While Endy has been a well-known Canadian mattress brand since 2015, the Mira Bed mattress was quietly launched in summer 2019. Though the close relationship of the two brands has not been publicly divulged at the time of publishing (October 2019), both are a part of the Endy Sleep company, an online mattress retailer fully owned by Sleep Country.
Mira Bed
Taking aim at their sister brand and others, the Mira mattress asks shoppers to consider “Why overpay for your foam mattress?” In service to their value mission, the budget brand denounces the “splashy TV commercials” and “flashy social media influencer sponsorships” of some other online mattress companies, including Endy. The company is based out of Toronto, Ontario, and their mattress is made in Canada.
Endy
Endy is a bed-in-a-box mattress brand owned by Sleep Country, Canada’s largest chain of mattress retail stores. The company has been selling its “one-size-fits-all” foam mattress since 2015, competing with other online brands like Casper and Douglas. Endy mattresses are made in Ontario and Quebec and shipped out from distribution centres in Ontario and British Columbia. In 2022, the company expanded its mattress lineup with the Endy Hybrid, a softer version of their foam mattress mixing foam and coils.

Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
Endy and Mira both use a variety of shipping partners to deliver their mattresses directly to customers’ doors throughout most parts of Canada. In some cases, the mattresses can even be left on a porch or deck while the customer is away from home. As a result, shipping time for both brands are roughly the same, delivering within 10 days of purchase.
As with most other bed-in-a-box brands, Endy and Mira heavily promote their in-home sleep trials; however, these sleep trials differ in length: While Endy mattress shoppers receive a 100-night sleep trial, Mira customers receive a 130-night sleep trial, an additional 30 nights over Endy owners.
If a customer wishes to return their mattress within the sleep trial, both brands will arrange to pick up the mattress and issue a full refund. There are no additional return or restocking fees for either brand.

Both the Endy and the Mira mattress were delivered to us within the expected time frame. Each came well-protected by heavy-duty plastic within the boxes to protect the mattresses during shipping. The boxes for both mattresses were sealed with heavy-duty tape. Customers will definitely need scissors or a knife to open the packaging. To prevent potential harm to yourself or your new mattress, remember to be extra careful when using sharp objects to open the box.
Once opened, the compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out of its cardboard packaging. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most practical to complete this process in the room where you intend to use the mattress.
The Endy and Mira were each protected with multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic – an inner layer to keep it compressed in a vacuum seal, and outers layers to maintain the tight cylinder shape through the shipping process. Customers will need to unwrap the outer layers of plastic in order to unroll and unfold the compressed mattress.
Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find where the outer layer of plastic begins and start peeling it back. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long. After completing this process, the mattress will rest unrolled before you.
Next, cut and remove the final layer of plastic. The vacuum seal now broken, the mattress will begin to decompress. A bed-in-a-box mattress should expand to its full height within a few minutes to a few days. The Endy mattress and the Mira both expanded to their full height within 2 minutes.

Endy and Mira are both combination foam mattresses, relying on multiple layers of foam to create a distinctive level of comfort and support. Both are available only in one firmness option, and each comes compressed, rolled, and shipped in a box. Test results show that the two brands have extremely similar firmness ratings, which both brands describe as the “perfect firmness.”
Also, each mattress has a unique top cover which showcases the brand’s unique design aesthetic and personality. Top covers are sometimes washable. In this case, both Endy and Mira have machine-washable top covers.
Mira vs Endy Mattress Layers
Mira

Endy

Mira Mattress Layers
The Mira mattress contains two layers of foam. Like many of the combination foam mattresses on the market today, the layers work together to provide an overall level of comfort and support.
- First layer: 1.5 inches of cooling gel-infused foam. This top layer helps with breathability and airflow within the mattress while also providing a certain amount of cushioning. Layer density: Unspecified.
- Second layer: 6.5 inches of polyfoam. This bottom layer is what gives this mattress its firmness, while factoring into the overall level of support and bounce. Layer density: Unspecified.
Of note: Foam density information for the Mira mattress is not publicly available. The foam used in this mattress is CertiPUR-US® certified.
Endy Mattress Layers
The Endy mattress contains three layers of foam:
- The first layer of the Endy mattress is 2” of Endy comfort foam. This layer is designed to provide optimal comfort and temperature performance.*
- The second layer of the Endy mattress is 3” of polyurethane foam. This layer works with the comfort layer to provide an additional level of support and will help conform to the body.
- The final layer of foam in the Endy mattress is 5” of polyurethane foam. This layer gives the Endy mattress its structure and prevents sleepers from sinking in too far.
*Endy does not provide density information for their top layer of foam. The second and third layer of the Endy mattress are both 1.8lbs/ft3.
Mira vs Endy Mattress Cover
Mira

Endy

Mira Mattress Cover
The Mira mattress has a textured white cover with a pattern of overlayed squares stitched in the fabric. Mira’s cover is 100% polyester and is also machine washable. The zipper running across the length of the mattress sidewall makes it possible to remove the top panel for care and maintenance, though it is located along the bottom of the mattress.
Endy Mattress Cover
The Endy mattress has a two-tone cover. The bottom part of the cover is a heavier-duty grey fabric, and the top part is white with a diamond-knit pattern. The top part of the cover is made primarily of polyester and contains a small amount of Lycra for stretch. Unlike other mattresses on the market, such as Douglas and Novosbed, Endy does not highlight eco-conscious fabric. The top portion of the Endy mattress can be unzipped and cleaned in the washing machine as necessary.

Should you buy the Mira Bed or Endy?
With so many similiarities between these two sister brands, deciding between Endy and Mira comes down to two factors: price and convenience.
If you prefer CONVENIENCE…
Unlike Mira, the Endy mattress is available to try out in select stores across Canada. It has also amassed plenty of customer reviews and influencer endorsements over the past five years, two helpful factors in making a confident purchase decision. Customers who are interested in Endy are encouraged to also look at the Douglas, a Canadian-made mattress which sells for nearly $100 less.
If you prefer PRICE…
Though many online mattress shoppers are likely familiar with Endy, the Mira mattress is worth a closer look. The Mira mattress has identical firmness and motion isolation ratings as Endy, though it sells for $300 less for a queen size. It also has similar shipping and warranty details, along with an additional 30 days on its sleep trial. However, value-minded shoppers looking to save money on a great mattress may also be interested in the Juno mattress, a Canadian-made foam mattress that sells for $50 less than Mira. Juno is also our TOP PICK for MATRESS UNDER $500.
Buy Mira if you want:

- A firm surface that still has some “hug”
- A mattress similar to the Douglas
