Mira and Juno are two newly launched mattress brands in search of a foothold in the Canadian market. Here’s a quick overview of both companies.
Mira
Mira is a Toronto-based mattress company that entered the bed-in-a-box scene in July 2019. The company’s flagship product is their 8-inch foam mattress. In support of their value mission, the company’s messaging centres around creating a simple product and delivering it at the lowest price possible. They also hope to win over frustrated mattress shoppers by contrasting their marketing approach to other mattress retailers who spend heavily on TV marketing and social media influencer partnerships.
Juno
The Juno mattress was launched in August of 2019 by the Canadian mattress-in-a-box company GoodMorning.com. Designed, sold, and manufactured exclusively in Canada, Juno is the logical next step in the progression of GoodMorning.com’s mission to make high-quality sleep more affordable throughout Canada. This value mattress comes with all the features GoodMorning.com is famous for, such as the 120-night trial, 15-year warranty, and outstanding Canadian customer care – and does so at a very affordable price.

Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
Delivery
Mira uses a variety of shipping partners while Juno uses FedEx to deliver. Both mattresses are delivered directly to customers’ doors across Canada. In addition, both companies offer free shipping to most Canadian postal codes with remote shipping fees applying to a minority of addresses.
Both Mira and Juno have a delivery estimate of 3 to 10 business days, excluding public holidays.
Trial Period
Like many bed-in-a-box companies, Mira and Juno both heavily promote their in-home sleep trials. Mira’s 130-night sleep trial and Juno’s 120-night sleep trial mean that these brands have two of the longest sleep trials available in Canada. Both mattress companies also offer the option of a full refund.
Returns and Additional Fees
Both Mira and Juno offer free returns, arrange pickups, and have no additional fees associated with returns.

Delivery Times & Opening the Box
The Mira and Juno mattresses arrived within the expected delivery times. Both mattresses arrived well-protected in their respective boxes where heavy-duty plastic layers were used to prevent damage during shipping.
Both mattress boxes came sealed with heavy-duty tape. Customers will need scissors or a knife to open the box. To prevent injuries and to avoid damaging the mattress inside, please remember to be very careful when using sharp objects to open the box.
Setting up the Mattress
Once opened, each compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down to its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to use the mattress.
Both mattresses are protected with multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic to compress it in a vacuum seal and keep it tightly rolled up for shipping.
Customers will need to unwrap the outer layer in order to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find and peel back the outer layer of plastic. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long. After completing this process, the mattress will be lying unrolled before you.
Expansion Time
Next, cut the final layer of plastic. The vacuum seal now broken, the mattress will quickly begin to decompress. Remove this final layer of plastic as the mattresses expands to its full height. For both Mira and Juno, full expansion took around 2 minutes.

Mira and Juno are both combination foam mattresses, each made up of two layers that combine to create a custom firmness and comfort experience.
Though both are 8-inch mattresses, the size ratios between their two foam layers differ in a way that separates their overall feel. Where Mira opts for a thicker bottom layer for added firmness, Juno has a thicker top layer for added cooling and comfort. And while Mira’s cover is composed entirely of polyester, Juno’s cover is made from a soft blend of polyester and viscose.
Bed-in-a-box mattresses often have removable covers to help with care and cleaning. This can be helpful for owners who don’t use a mattress protector. In this case, Mira has a removable, machine-washable cover; Juno’s removable cover is spot-clean only.
Mira vs Juno Mattress Layers
Mira

Juno

Mira Mattress Layers
The Mira mattress contains two layers of foam:
- First layer: 1.5 inches of cooling gel-infused foam. This top layer helps with breathability and airflow within the mattress while also providing a slight amount of cushioning. Layer density: Unspecified.
- Second layer: 6.5 inches of polyfoam. This bottom layer is what gives this mattress its firmness, while factoring into the overall level of support and bounce. Layer density: Unspecified.
Of note: Foam density information for the Mira mattress is not publicly available. The foam used in this mattress is CertiPUR-US® certified.
Juno Mattress Layers
The Juno mattress contains two layers of foam. Like many combination foam mattresses available on the market today, these two layers work together to provide comfort and support.
- First layer: 2 inches of Full-Body Cooling Gel Foam. This top layer offers contoured comfort, as well as overall cooling and breathability. Foam density: 2.5 lbs/ft³.
- Second layer: 6 inches of Total Support Foam. This bottom layer allows Juno to provide support and firmness to sleepers. This layer improves overall edge support while reducing motion transfer. Foam density: 1.8 lbs/ft³.
Mira vs Juno Mattress Cover
Mira

Juno

Mira Mattress Cover
The Mira mattress has a textured white cover with a pattern of overlayed squares stitched in the fabric. Mira’s cover is 100% polyester and is also machine washable. The zipper running across the length of the mattress sidewall makes it possible to remove the top panel for care and maintenance, though it is located along the bottom of the mattress.
Juno Mattress Cover
Juno’s cover design is an homage to the iconic striped wool socks Canadians have worn for generations. The grey, white, and red pattern is made up of a soft blend of polyester and viscose. The red strip running across one end of the mattress is further decorated with white maple leafs to complete the brand’s Canadian identity. Finally, there’s a zipper underneath the mattress that makes it possible for you to remove the cover if necessary for easier care and maintenance.

Should you buy an Mira or a Juno?
Both are 8 inches tall. Both have two layers of foam. And both are made in Canada.
But as two value brand mattresses, what really elevates one brand over the other is that Juno lets you save $100 over Mira. Value is mixture of good quality and good price. And while both of these products are very good quality mattresses overall, Juno’s lower price will likely be the deciding factor for many shoppers deciding between these two brands. The additional 5 years of warranty coverage is just one more reason to feel confident in this decision.
