Douglas Summit Hybrid Mattress Construction
Douglas Summit Hybrid is the hybrid version of the award-winning Douglas Summit foam mattress, having many of the same features, but with a layer of three-zoned support coils. This provides more targeted pressure relief and bounce. Summit Hybrid also has the same medium-firm feel that appeals to all sleep styles.
Mattress Layers
Douglas Summit Hybrid mattress measures 14" tall and has 4 internal layers. The foam is CertiPUR-US® certified, and the mattress is made in Canada.
- 1st Layer: 2.5" ecoLift® cooling gel foam relieves pressure points and prevents heat buildup. It contains Polar® phase-change material to absorb and redistribute body heat.
- 2nd Layer: 2.5" Elastex® transition foam, a latex-free open-cell foam, which provides support, bouncy responsiveness, and body contouring, similar to latex.
- 3rd Layer: 8" Exoforge™ pocket coils provide three-zoned support beneath the lower back and hips, with encasement foam surrounding the coils for reinforced edges.
- 4th Layer: 1" motion-isolation support foam to add structure and reduce motion transfer from side to side.
Mattress Cover
Every Douglas mattress has the brand's signature CoolSense® cover, which features a mountain-inspired design and a red zipper along the side. The fabric is woven with Infinitex™ fibres, a breathable, plant-based material that draws moisture away from the body and limits odour buildup over time. For cleaning, the top panel can be fully unzipped and machine washed, making it easy to keep the mattress feeling fresh.

Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
Delivery is free for most Canadian addresses through FedEx, though shoppers in some remote locations may see an added fee. Orders ship from fulfillment centres in Alberta or Ontario and typically arrive within 2–10 business days. Each mattress is rolled and vacuum-sealed in two layers of plastic before being placed in a sturdy cardboard box with built-in handles for easier transport. Once unboxed, the mattress expands quickly, so you should be able to sleep on it the same day.
Douglas backs its mattresses with a 365-night home sleep trial, giving customers a full year to decide if it's the right fit. If you choose to return the mattress within that window, Douglas will coordinate to pick up your mattress for free, and provide a full refund, with returned mattresses donated where possible or recycled through local programs. If you choose to keep your mattress, Douglas mattresses are backed by a 20-year warranty for long-term coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I get Douglas Summit Foam or Douglas Summit Hybrid?
The right choice for you will depend on what you need in a mattress. Both mattresses have a medium-firm feel, several cooling features, and great performance in areas like edge support and motion isolation.
Foam mattresses like the Douglas Summit are less bouncy and less responsive, with a "lying on top" feeling that some sleepers prefer. The foam version of the Douglas Summit has the same edge support and higher motion isolation than the Douglas Summit Hybrid, with a lower price of $1,299 for a queen (compared to $1,379 for the hybrid model). On the other hand, the Douglas Summit Hybrid has a bouncier feel, more body contouring and targeted pressure relief, and more cooling features due to its zoned support coils.
Depending on your budget and what features matter most to you, you'll need to decide whether the foam or the hybrid version would be right for you.
Should I upgrade to Douglas Summit?
Douglas Summit might be worth the upgrade if your budget allows and if you want the added features. Douglas Summit Hybrid, which comes at a price of $1,379 for a queen-size, has the thickest layers and most cooling features of any Douglas mattress, with very good scores for edge support and motion isolation. If you prefer an all-foam option at a lower price point, you might prefer the foam Douglas Summit at $1,299 for a queen.
How firm is the Douglas Summit Hybrid mattress?
Douglas Summit Hybrid scored 6.7/10 for firmness in third-party engineer testing that we commissioned. This places the mattress on the firmer end of the medium-firm category, which will accommodate most sleepers since medium-firm mattresses suit all sleeping positions.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
