Juno is a medium-firm mattress that's made in Canada and designed to offer comfort in all sleep positions. It's hand-made with two layers of foam: a cooling gel-infused top layer for comfort and a dense bottom layer for support and durability. 

At just $499 for a queen, Juno is one of the most affordable foam mattresses in Canada. It comes with a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle, which includes a sheet set, pillow(s), and a mattress protector. You can also upgrade to the Cool+ cover if you're a warm sleeper.

The Bloom River is a compact and affordable memory foam mattress available through Sleep Country Canada. It features a machine-washable antimicrobial cover, a gel memory foam comfort layer, and a base layer made with charcoal-infused support foam designed to keep the mattress fresh and durable.

Bloom River is priced at $499 for a queen. Compared to Juno, Bloom River has a shorter sleep trial of 100 nights, which is standard for the industry, and a 5-year warranty. That's 10 years shorter than what Juno offers and 5 years shorter than the industry-average of 10 years.

Mattress Construction

Both Juno and Bloom River are combination foam mattresses. Juno is made with 2 layers, one of which is a cooling gel-infused foam, and it's made in Canada. Bloom River has 3 layers. Although the law label on the mattress we received) says it's made in Vietnam, Bloom says its mattresses are made in both Vietnam and Canada.

Juno

• 1st Layer: 2" Full-Body Cooling Gel Foam that contours to your body for pressure relief and helps keep you cool while you sleep.
• 2nd Layer: 6" Total Support Foam adds firmness, limits motion transfer, and reinforces the edges.

Juno's cover takes inspiration from classic Canadian wool socks. It's grey and white with a wide berry-coloured stripe at the foot, and made from a soft blend of polyester and viscose. The cover isn't removable or machine washable, and should be spot-cleaned when needed.

Juno also offers a cooling cover upgrade for $79 CAD. The Cool+ cover infuses the standard Juno cover with the brand's proprietary cooling yarn.

Bloom River

• 1st layer: A 0.75" gel memory foam designed to contour gently to the body, helping to relieve pressure points. It is infused with cooling gel and provides a light temperature-regulating effect to prevent heat buildup during sleep.
• 2nd layer: A 2.5" convoluted foam that acts as a transition layer. This section has a wavy, egg-crate-like texture that encourages airflow throughout the mattress.
• 3rd layer: A 3.75" bamboo charcoal-infused support foam that provides the firmness and structural base needed for different body types and sleep positions. The charcoal infusion also helps reduce odours.

The Bloom River mattress polyester cover features a clean, minimal design made from "double jacquard antimicrobial fabric." The Bloom mattress's interior is protected with a rayon sock that Sleep Country says helps reduce the flame hazard.

Mattress Performance

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, both the Juno and Bloom River mattresses scored in the medium-firm range. This level of firmness usually works well for most sleepers, whether they sleep on their back, stomach, or side.

Both mattresses earned good scores for motion isolation and edge support. High motion isolation helps absorb movement, which means you're less likely to feel your partner shift or get out of bed. That's a big plus for light sleepers. Edge support is also important if you sleep near the edge or sit on the side of the bed. It adds a sense of stability and keeps you from feeling like you might roll off. 

Where Juno Differs:

• Juno scored lower for bounce, which means the surface responds to movement more slowly. That can be helpful for light sleepers or anyone who prefers a mattress that contours their body, and doesn't react to every toss and turn.
• Juno is also on the softer end of medium-firm, which may be a little more comfortable if you sleep on your side.

Where Bloom Differs:

• Bloom River has a high bounce score, especially for a foam mattress. That means this mattress is much more responsive to movements like getting out of bed and changing positions.

Delivery & Other Policies

Juno

Juno uses FedEx to deliver their mattresses directly to customers' doors throughout most parts of Canada, usually within 2–10 business days. Juno has a longer sleep trial out of the two mattress brands at 120 nights. If you return your Juno mattress during the sleep trial, Juno will pick up the mattress for donation and issue a full refund, all for free. 

Bloom River

Bloom mattresses are sold by Sleep Country throughout most of Canada, and delivery usually takes 3–10 business days. The company offers a standard 100-night sleep trial to test the mattress at home. Sleep Country does not offer free pick-ups for returns. If you want to return your mattress, you will have to take it to the nearest Sleep Country store, even if you got your mattress online. Bloom only offers exchanges (not full refunds) and an additional $65 exchange fee.
