IKEA HAUGESUND Mattress Front

The IKEA HAUGESUND was a spring mattress made by Swedish decor and home supplier, IKEA.

HAUGESUND was a popular budget mattress, competing with other value brands like the Canadian-made Juno. Standing 10″ tall, this mattress arrived sealed in plastic and tightly rolled up. HAUGESUND was made in Mexico, retailed at $439 for a queen, and could be exchanged within 90 nights for a different mattress under IKEA’s sleep-trial policy.

The IKEA HAUGESUND has been discontinued in Canada and is no longer available for sale on the IKEA website. If you’re looking for an affordable IKEA spring mattress, check out IKEA VALEVAG instead.

The IKEA HAUGESUND was a spring mattress that combined thin layers of foam with coils to deliver a basic mix of comfort, cooling, and support. It was available in two firmness options: medium-firm and firm. We had purchased the medium-firm model for this review when it was still available on the IKEA website. HAUGESUND has since been discontinued.

Mattress Layers

At approximately 10″ tall, the IKEA Haugesund featured 3 visible interior layers of foam and pocketed coils.

  • 1st Layer: ¾” of polyurethane comfort foam. This top layer added softness to the surface and offered light pressure relief.
  • 2nd Layer: 7″ of pocketed coils. These springs provided most of the mattress’s structure and gave it a responsive feel.
  • 3rd Layer: ¾” of polyurethane support foam. This bottom layer helped to stabilize the mattress and support the coils above.

Mattress Cover

The Haugesund had a dual-tone cover with a clean, stitched design. The top panel was white with parallel rows of stitching, while the brown side panels featured a repeating square pattern with white thread.

The fabric was a blend of 54% polyester and 46% cotton. Unlike some mattresses, the Haugesund’s cover wasn’t removable and could only be spot cleaned.

Delivery & Other Policies

The IKEA HAUGESUND has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase from IKEA. For an in-stock IKEA spring mattress, check out our review of the IKEA VALEVAG mattress.

When you purchase an IKEA mattress, you have a few options to receive it, including both pickup and delivery. IKEA uses FedEx and a variety of shipping partners to deliver directly to customers’ doors throughout most of Canada. There’s a shipping fee that starts at $39 for delivery to your door. You can also choose to shop in-store and take your mattress home the same day, at no extra cost.

Unopened mattresses in new and unused condition can be returned within 365 days with proof of purchase. For shoppers who use their IKEA mattresses, they can exchange their mattresses once in a 90-night period. You’ll pay the price difference if you choose a more expensive mattress. On the other hand, if you choose a cheaper mattress, you’ll receive store credit for the difference, which can be put towards future IKEA purchases.
