Like the Douglas Original, the Douglas Original Hybrid has a number of cooling features, a machine-washable cover, and a medium-firm feel that works for all sleep styles. On top of a supportive layer of steel pocket coils that are zoned for targeted pressure relief, the Original Hybrid also earned even higher scores for edge support and motion isolation compared to the all-foam version.

Available for a more accessible price of $879 for a queen-size, the Douglas Original Hybrid comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle that includes a cotton sheet set, duvet cover, down alternative duvet, pillow(s), pillow protector(s), and a mattress protector.

Product Details: Endy Hybrid

Endy Hybrid builds on the brand's original all-foam design by adding pocketed coils for a mix of support and pressure relief. It comes in three firmnesses, but we bought the medium-firm model for our review, since this firmness level is typically designed for all sleep styles. But when tested by third-party engineers that we commissioned, the mattress fell in our "firm" category. This could make it better suited to back and stomach sleepers than side sleepers.

The Endy Hybrid includes a 365-night sleep trial and a 10-year default warranty. At $1,295 for a queen, Endy Hybrid has mid-range pricing for a hybrid mattress; it's priced above the classic Endy foam mattress, but below most traditional retail hybrids.

Mattress Construction

Both the Douglas Original Hybrid and the Endy Hybrid are Canadian mattresses designed with layers of foam and zoned pocket coils. The Douglas Hybrid is 12" tall and has 4 layers. The Endy Hybrid has 5 layers and is 12" tall.

Douglas Original Hybrid

• 1st Layer: 2" ecoLift® cooling gel foam that relieves pressure points and keeps heat from building up.
• 2nd Layer: 1" Elastex® transition foam that cushions, contours, and provides extra bounce.
• 3rd Layer: 8" Exoforge™ individually pocketed coils that give extra support under the hips and lower back, with foam around the edges for better edge support.
• 4th Layer: 1" motion-isolation support foam that acts as a solid base and helps reduce movement across the bed.

Douglas Original Hybrid comes encased in the brand's signature white and grey CoolSense® cover, which features a mountain range design and a distinctive bright red zipper. The fabric is woven with Infinitex™ fibres that help pull moisture away from the body and regulate the temperature of the mattress surface. The cover is removable and machine washable, making it easy to keep clean.

The Endy Hybrid

• 1st Layer: Quilted cover with 1″ of foam that offers a soft initial feel
• 2nd Layer: 2″ Endy Comfort Foam that includes an open-cell structure and a cooling gel infusion, which helps reduce heat retention compared to traditional foams.
• 3rd Layer: 1.5″ transition foam that helps absorb movement and prevent sleepers from sinking too far into the coil support system.
• 4th Layer: 7″ zoned pocketed coils that provide targeted support. Firmer coils are used in the center of the mattress for lumbar support, and around the perimeter for improved edge support.
• 5th Layer: 0.5" of foam, which helps cushion the coil layer as it rests on your bed frame.

The Endy Hybrid has a two-tone quilted cover with a white, diamond-stitched top and grey sides accented by dark blue piping. The cover isn't removable or machine washable, so any spills or stains need to be spot-cleaned. While the surface fabric doesn't have built-in cooling materials, Endy says the open-cell foam underneath supports airflow and helps limit heat retention compared to traditional memory foam.

Mattress Performance

In third-party engineering testing we commissioned, both the Douglas Original Hybrid and the Endy Hybrid performed well for edge support. A mattress with good edge support allows you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed and gives you more usable mattress space.

Where Douglas Differs:

• The Douglas Original Hybrid scored 6.0/10 for firmness, placing it in the medium-firm category. This level of firmness works well for a wide range of sleep styles, including back, stomach, and side sleepers.
• With a standout motion isolation score of 9.0/10, the Douglas Original Hybrid scored higher than the Endy Hybrid. You shouldn't be woken up by your partner changing positions or moving around the mattress.
• Douglas Original Hybrid provides high bounce with a score of 8.0/10. The more bounce in a mattress, the easier it is to change sleep positions.
• When it comes to cooling features, the more affordable Douglas Original Hybrid scored higher at 5.3/10 for its moisture-wicking CoolSense® cover, ecoLift® cooling gel foam, breathable coils that promote air circulation, and open-cell foam and Elastex® transition foam that allow for airflow.

Where Endy Differs:

• The Endy Hybrid comes in three firmness options, and we purchased the medium-firm option for this review. Despite this, it tested with a firmness score of 7.0/10, putting it in our "firm" category. This level of firmness can be comfortable for stomach and back sleepers, but might not work for side sleepers or lighter-weight individuals.
• Based on average rebound test scores, the Endy Hybrid mattress has mid-level bounce with a final score of 5.8/10. While the mattress should be responsive enough to change positions easily, if you need a little bit more responsiveness, you may prefer the Douglas mattress.
• Endy Hybrid has a lower cooling feature score than Douglas of 3.5/10. It contains gel-infused foam, open-cell foam, and individually wrapped coils that offer some internal ventilation.
