Product Overview
The Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is a medium-firm memory foam mattress owned by Tempur Sealy International, a brand known for its high-density TEMPUR® material and pressure-relieving support. This model sits at the premium end of the market, priced at $5,399 for a queen-size.
We purchased the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt from Sleep Country Canada, which offers a 100-night exchange period and a 10-year warranty. This is standard for the industry, but unlike some brands, Sleep Country has an exchange-only return policy. That means you won’t get your money back if you decide to return the mattress.
If you’re considering other options, take a look at the Octave Horizon. It’s a Canadian-made, medium-firm foam mattress featuring a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, all for the affordable of $1,499 for a queen size.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress Construction
The Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress stands 11″ tall and comes in three firmness levels: Blue (soft), Teal (medium), and Orange (firm). We tested the Teal version for this review. Third-party testing found it to be firmer than advertised.
Mattress Layers
The Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress contains 4 layers of foam and measures 12" tall. All foam used in the mattress is CertiPUR-US® certified. Like many of the memory foam mattresses on the market today, each layer of foam in the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress works with the others to provide an overall level of comfort and support.
- 1st Layer: 1" of aerated TEMPUR® Material, which uses an open-cell design to retain less heat and promote greater airflow.
- 2nd Layer: 2" of Advanced Relief® Material, which offers a similar slow-responding, body-hugging sensation.
- 3rd Layer: 3" of what appears to be standard polyurethane foam. It isn't described on Tempur-Pedic's or Sleep Country's websites, but based on available information, it likely serves as a transition layer between the softer top layers and the firm base.
- 4th Layer: 5" convoluted (egg-crate style) polyurethane foam. This base layer provides overall support, promotes airflow, and helps the mattress's pressure-relieving qualities.
Mattress Cover
The Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress features both an outer and inner cover, each with its own purpose and materials.
- The Outer Cover is removable and made from a blend of polyester, polyethylene, and spandex, giving it a cool-to-the-touch feel that adds to the mattress's overall comfort. While it's easy to take off, it's important to note that a tag on the cover advises spot-cleaning only. To help protect your mattress and warranty, we recommend avoiding machine washing the cover.
- The Inner Cover is a thin layer of blue fabric described as the "High-Stretch Performance Panel." According to the brand, this flexible layer is designed to work with the foam underneath to enhance pressure relief. However, specific details on how it functions aren't provided.
Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
When you order a Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress from Sleep Country Canada, it'll show up at your door fully expanded but neatly packed in a plastic wrap and packaged in a large cardboard box. Delivery usually takes 3–10 business days, and shipping is free if your order is over $75. Just a heads-up, though: if you're in Newfoundland and Labrador or one of the Canadian Territories, there's a $120 shipping surcharge.
Sleep Country includes a 10-year limited warranty with your mattress, which covers manufacturing defects. This is standard in the industry.
You also get a 100-night sleep trial to decide if it's the right fit for you. If you return the mattress during the trial, you'll need to bring it back to a Sleep Country store yourself, even if you bought it online. The company doesn't do mattress pick-ups for returns, and they don't issue refunds. Instead, you'll get in-store credit (minus a $65 exchange fee) to use toward another mattress. If your next pick is more expensive, you'll cover the difference in price. If you do pick a less expensive mattress, you will have to apply the rest of your credit to another Sleep Country product.

Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Despite Tempur-Pedic's popularity, it holds a "Bad" rating on Trustpilot and is rated "B+" (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau with a 1/5 star customer review rating. Tempur-Sealy, or Somnigroup, has a rating of "Poor" on Trustpilot and a customer review average of 1.1/5 stars on BBB despite their "A+" rating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Tempur-Pedic mattresses worth it?
A mattress is worth buying if it fits your budget and sleep needs. The Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal has a medium-firm feel, contours well, has good edge support, and has some cooling features, but it costs $5,399 for a queen-size.
If you want a body-contouring mattress at a lower price, you might want to consider Octave Horizon. At $1,499 for a queen, it offers body-contouring foam, five-zoned support to promote proper spinal alignment, and more cooling features than ProAdapt Teal. It also has a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty, plus a free bedding bundle.
Where can you buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are available at many third-party retailers, including Sleep Country, The Brick, and Costco. You can also find them at local mattress stores. Although Tempur-Pedic has its own website, only customers in the U.S. can buy directly from it. We purchased our ProAdapt Teal mattress from Sleep Country.
How long does a Tempur-Pedic mattress last?
Experts generally say a good mattress lasts about 7–10 years, but this can vary based on the materials and how often you use it. There's no hard-and-fast rule, but if you start noticing sagging, lumps, or less comfort and support, it's probably time to think about replacing it. Taking care of your mattress with regular maintenance can help it last longer.
Do you need to rotate a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Tempur-Pedic claims their mattresses are designed so you don't need to flip or rotate them. However, many mattress experts still recommend rotating your mattress 180° every 4–6 months to help it wear more evenly over time.
What Tempur-Pedic mattress alternatives should I consider?
If you're looking for a more affordable, Canadian-made alternative to Tempur-Pedic, check out Octave Horizon. It's made with contouring memory foam and includes features like a cooling, machine-washable cover, copper infusions for freshness, and zoned support for pressure relief. Every Octave mattress also comes with a 365-night trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
