Beautyrest Black Mattress Construction
The Beautyrest Black Hotel Presidential Suite mattress is a Canadian-made hybrid mattress with a Euro-top cover and a medium-firm feel. Unlike some other competitor hybrid mattresses, this model doesn't have zoned support coils.
Mattress Layers
This mattress measures 14.5" tall and has 6 layers. The first 2 layers are tufted directly into the Euro-top cover.
- 1st Layer: 1" hollow polyester fibre fill for comfort and airflow.
- 2nd Layer: 1.5" cooling gel-infused memory foam (tufted with the first layer and counted together in our layer count).
- 3rd Layer: 1.5" of unspecified polyurethane foam for added comfort.
- 4th Layer: 3" polyurethane transition foam to keep you from feeling the coil layer below.
- 5th Layer: 8" individually pocketed coils with surrounding support foam encasement.
- 6th Layer: 0.5" base foam layer that acts as a base for the coils to rest on.
Mattress Cover
Beautyrest Black mattresses usually have a sleek appearance that matches their name. The Hotel Presidential Suite mattress has an all-black Euro-top cover with dark grey sidewalls, with the Beautyrest logo at the foot of the bed. The cover fabric is woven with silver, which is naturally antimicrobial. The rest of the top cover is made up of polyester and spandex.
Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
When you buy Beautyrest Black from The Brick, the price doesn't include delivery fees. Fees start at $89.95 and vary by location. The Brick doesn't list a delivery timeline on its website, but you can ask for an estimate by getting in touch with customer support. If you'd rather skip the delivery fee, you can pick up the mattress for free at a nearby store.
The mattress arrives fully expanded and wrapped in plastic. It's not a bed-in-a-box. Luckily, the shipping fee you pay includes a "Room of Choice" service, which means the delivery team will bring the mattress right up to your bedroom.
You get a 90-night sleep trial to try out your mattress, although The Brick will extend it to 180 nights if you buy a mattress protector in a matching size. If you decide the mattress isn't the right fit during the trial, you'll get a one-time exchange for store credit. The Brick doesn't offer refunds. You'll also need to either return the mattress to a store yourself or pay another delivery fee to have it picked up.
Beautyrest Black comes with a 10-year warranty, but it's only valid if used with a rigid, supportive, and non-yielding base. The warranty covers manufacturing defects. Any damage to the cover fabric or handles on the mattress isn't covered by the warranty. Neither are damaged or bent borders or corners.

Company Overview
Beautyrest is a U.S. mattress brand that launched in 1925. It's made by the Simmons Bedding Company, which was founded in 1870 and is now headquartered in Doraville, Georgia. Simmons is one of the oldest mattress makers in North America, and Beautyrest was one of the first mattresses to use a pocket coil system. We still see this design in lots of spring mattresses today.
Today, Simmons operates under Serta Simmons Bedding, one of the largest mattress companies in the U.S. In 2023, Serta Simmons Bedding filed for bankruptcy and later restructured its business to focus on a smaller set of brands.
Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Serta Simmons Bedding, the parent company of Beautyrest, is rated "F" (unaccredited) on the Better Business Bureau and has a customer review score of 2/5 stars. The Beautyrest brand itself is rated "Poor" on Trustpilot.
Plus, Beautyrest mattresses are sold through various retailers, like The Brick and Sleep Country Canada. Since your price, policies, and customer experience is happening through these stores, it can be worth it to check out their ratings, too. The Brick has an "A-" (Unaccredited) BBB rating and a 1.13/5 customer review score, along with a "Poor" Trustpilot rating. Sleep Country is rated "A+" (unaccredited) with the BBB and a customer review score of 1.32/5, and it's also rated "Poor" on Trustpilot.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
