Bloom Earth is a foam mattress that measures 8" tall, and comes in a single firmness option. By combining 3 foam layers of different types, densities, and firmness levels, Sleep Country has designed a configuration that offers comfort, cooling, and support. The foam layers are CertiPUR-US® certified.

Mattress Layers

The Bloom Earth mattress contains 3 layers of foam. Like many of the memory foam mattresses on the market today, each layer of foam in the Bloom Earth mattress works with the others to provide comfort and support.

  • 1st Layer: 1" of cooling gel memory foam that quickly conforms to the body's shape, providing pressure point relief while helping you stay cool as you sleep
  • 2nd Layer: 2.5" of convoluted foam, that helps warm air escape more easily. It also provides good pressure point relief, offering a softer transition between comfort and support layers.
  • 3rd Layer: 4.5" of aerated support foam that reinforces the mattress and helps it breathe. According to Sleep Country, the bamboo charcoal in this layer also helps manage odours.

Mattress Cover

The cover uses two-sided double jacquard antimicrobial fabric and is made entirely of polyester, according to the law label of the Earth mattress we purchased. It's likely that the polyester fibres have been treated to give the fabric its antimicrobial qualities. The cover can be removed and washed in cold or warm water. Inside, a rayon sock surrounds the foam layers, which Sleep Country says reduces fire risk.

Mattress Testing

/10

Made in

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, Bloom Earth scored 6.0/10 for firmness. That puts the mattress in the "medium-firm" category, although Sleep Country's website product page describes it as "medium." A medium-firm mattress is ideal for most sleepers.

Our Rating
?

Determined by how much the mattress sinks under applied weight. The lower the score out of 10, the softer the mattress.

6.0

/10

Edge Support

Bloom Earth scored 9.3/10 for edge support. This is a standout score for a foam mattress. Sleepers can sleep near or sit on the edge of the bed without any trouble.

Our Rating
?

Determined by how much the mattress edge sinks under applied weight. A mattress with average to good edge support will score 5/10 or higher.

9.3

/10

Cooling

Our mattress reviewers awarded the Bloom Earth a cooling feature score of 3.2/10. This score is calculated based on the following features:

  1. Gel-infused top layer that allows for enhanced cooling
  2. Convoluted foam that promotes airflow
  3. Aerated foam for improved air circulation
  4. Bamboo charcoal infusion to help manage odours, and draw heat away from the body

For those who want a more budget-friendly option with similar cooling performance, Juno is worth a look. It includes a layer of cooling gel foam that limits heat buildup and improves airflow. If you're looking for more cooling, the upgraded version also offers an optional cooling cover made with special cooling yarn to help keep the surface temperature lower. Juno is priced at just $499 for a queen size, while Bloom Earth costs $599.

Our Rating
?

Determined by entering a mattress's cooling features into our scoring algorithm. The more effective cooling features that are present, the higher the score out of 10.

3.2

/10

Motion Isolation

Bloom Earth scored 7.2/10 for motion isolation. This is very good for a foam mattress. You might feel larger movements from a partner, but smaller movements shouldn't be noticed.

Our Rating
?

Determined by measuring a medicine ball's impact on the mattress. Average to good motion isolation would be 5/10 or higher.

7.2

/10

Bounce

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Bloom Earth scored 4.0/10 for bounce. This is below average for a foam mattress, which means the sleep surface is less bouncy and responsive. Mattresses with lower bounce are ideal for those who prefer less movement on the bed, especially when changing sleep positions.

If you want a mattress with even lower bounce, we recommend the Juno with its lower score of 2.5/10.

Our Rating
?

Determined by dropping a medicine ball onto the mattress. The higher the first bounce, the higher the score out of 10.

Delivery & Other Policies

Bloom Earth is available from Sleep Country Canada and comes compressed and boxed for easy handling. Delivery typically takes 3–10 business days, with free shipping on orders over $75. Customers in Newfoundland and Labrador or the Canadian Territories have to pay an extra $120 shipping surcharge.

Sleep Country includes a 10-year limited warranty with the Bloom Earth, which covers manufacturing defects. This is standard in the industry.

The mattress also comes with a 100-night sleep trial, giving shoppers time to decide if it's the right match. Instead of a refund, customers receive in-store credit (minus a $65 exchange fee) that can be applied toward another mattress. If the replacement costs more, you'll cover the difference in price.

The company doesn't offer a pickup service for returns. So if you return the mattress during the trial, you will have to bring the expanded mattress back to a Sleep Country store yourself, even if it was purchased online.

Customer Reviews & Feedback

Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

While Bloom doesn't have its own profile on the BBB, its parent company, Sleep Country Canada, is listed there with a rating of "A+" (unaccredited). That said, customer reviews on the BBB site average just 1.32 out of 5 stars. On Trustpilot, the company has a "Poor" rating with 1.8 out of 5 stars.

Should You Buy Bloom Earth?

Bloom Earth

Queen $599

Bloom Earth performed well in third-party engineer testing. That said, you can't return it for a full refund, since Sleep Country's trial only allows a one-time exchange, or in-store credit. As such, Bloom shoppers will need to determine which features matter most to them. You might like the Bloom Earth if you want:

  • To buy your mattress from a major Canadian retailer like Sleep Country
  • A removable, machine-washable cover
  • The option to try the mattress in-store before buying

If you're considering budget-friendly foam mattresses with similar features at a lower price point, we think you should consider Juno.

Juno offers a longer 120-night sleep trial with full refunds and free return pickup, as well as a more generous 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle. It's priced at just $499 for a queen size, while Bloom Earth costs more at $599.
