The Bloom Cloud is a 10.5" all-foam mattress available in a single firmness level. All foam layers carry CertiPUR-US® certification.

Mattress Layers

The Bloom Cloud mattress contains 4 foam layers, each designed to work together for balanced comfort and support.

  • 1st Layer: 1" of gel-infused memory foam that helps disperse body heat and creates a cooler sleep surface while maintaining the pressure relief expected from memory foam
  • 2nd Layer: 1" of gel memory foam with aerated latex foam split into three sections to provide zoned support. Softer memory foam is at the head and foot of the mattress to support lighter areas of the body. In the middle, firmer latex foam adds extra support for the lower back and hips.
  • 3rd Layer: 1" of memory foam, which adds extra contouring for the body, providing added pressure relief
  • 4th Layer: 7.5" of support foam that prevents your body from sinking too deeply into the mattress. This layer is infused with bamboo charcoal, which Bloom states will help maintain freshness over time.

Mattress Cover

The Bloom Cloud mattress has a soft pastel cover in turquoise, grey, and white. It includes turquoise accents like the zipper and the Bloom logo at the foot of the bed. The zipper runs along the upper edge in a wave pattern, connecting the top panel to the base fabric.

The top cover is made of organic cotton and can be unzipped and machine washed on a low-heat setting. After washing, let it air dry.

Mattress Testing

/10

Made in

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Bloom Cloud scored 6.2/10 for firmness. This places the mattress in the "medium-firm" category, although Sleep Country's website product page describes it as "medium." This mattress firmness is suitable for most types of sleepers.

Our Rating
?

Determined by how much the mattress sinks under applied weight. The lower the score out of 10, the softer the mattress.

6.2

/10

Edge Support

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Bloom Cloud scored 9.0/10 for edge support. This is an outstanding score for a foam mattress. Sleepers can sleep near or sit on the edge of the bed without any trouble.

Our Rating
?

Determined by how much the mattress edge sinks under applied weight. A mattress with average to good edge support will score 5/10 or higher.

9.0

/10

Cooling

Our mattress reviewers awarded the Bloom Cloud a cooling feature score of 5.7/10. This score is calculated based on the features below:

  1. Copper-infused organic cotton mattress cover
  2. Heat-wicking cooling gel foam in the comfort layer
  3. Latex foam with open cell structure for air circulation
  4. Aerated foam layer for breathability
  5. Foam infused with bamboo charcoal, to draw heat away from the body

If you are looking for a lower-priced mattress with similar cooling features, we recommend Douglas Original, which offers features like cooling gel foam and open-cell foam at a lower price point of $799 for a queen, compared to $1,199 for the Bloom Cloud.

Our Rating
?

Determined by entering a mattress's cooling features into our scoring algorithm. The more effective cooling features that are present, the higher the score out of 10.

5.7

/10

Motion Isolation

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Bloom Cloud scored 6.3/10 for motion isolation. This is above average for a foam mattress. You might feel larger movements from a partner, but smaller movements shouldn't be noticed.

If motion isolation is important to you, we recommend Douglas Original, which has a higher score of 8.3/10.

Our Rating
?

Determined by measuring a medicine ball's impact on the mattress. Average to good motion isolation would be 5/10 or higher.

6.3

/10

Bounce

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Bloom Cloud scored 3.3/10 for bounce. This is considered below average for a foam mattress, which means the sleep surface is more consistent and less bouncy.

Our Rating
?

Determined by dropping a medicine ball onto the mattress. The higher the first bounce, the higher the score out of 10.

Delivery & Other Policies

When ordered from Sleep Country Canada, the Bloom Cloud mattress arrives compressed and boxed for easy setup. Delivery usually takes 3–10 business days, with free shipping on orders over $75. Customers in Newfoundland and Labrador or the Canadian Territories should note there is a $120 shipping surcharge for these areas.

Bloom was created and launched by Sleep Country Canada in 2017 as its first proprietary bed-in-a-box brand. Sleep Country's been around since 1994, starting out in Vancouver, BC. These days, you'll find their stores all over Canada, and they carry everything from mattresses and pillows to bedding and furniture.

Customer Reviews and Feedback

Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

While Bloom doesn't have its own profile on the BBB, its parent company, Sleep Country Canada, is listed there with a rating of "A+" (unaccredited). That said, customer reviews on the BBB site average just 1.32 out of 5 stars. On Trustpilot, the company has a "Poor" rating with 1.8 out of 5 stars.

Should You Buy Bloom Cloud?

Bloom Cloud

Queen $1,199

The Bloom Cloud performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), but it's pricier than other Bloom models. Shoppers may want to consider which features are must-haves and which are extras. The Bloom Cloud could be a good choice for those looking for:

  • Outstanding edge support and good motion isolation
  • An organic cover that's easy to remove and machine-wash
  • To buy your mattress from a well-known retailer

You may also want to consider a Canadian competitor like Douglas Original instead. It comes with a 365-night sleep trial, the option to return your mattress for free and receive a full refund, and a 20-year warranty. You also get a free bedding bundle. The Douglas Original also costs less at $799 for a queen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Bloom make good mattresses?

Bloom mattresses tend to perform well in testing and are priced fairly for Canadian shoppers. Some purchases may include a free accessory, but returns are exchange-only, with no refunds.

If you're looking for an affordable mattress that comes with bundled extras, consider Douglas Original. It's $799 for a queen, includes cooling features, a longer 365-night trial, a 20-year warranty, free returns with a full refund, and a free bedding bundle.

Who owns Bloom?

Sleep Country Canada owns the Bloom mattress brand and also holds exclusive partnerships with several other mattress brands.

Where are Bloom mattresses made?

According to a Sleep Country representative, Bloom mattresses are made in several countries, including China, Spain, and Canada. The Bloom Cloud we ordered for testing had a law label stating it was made in Vietnam.

Can I return my Bloom mattress?

If you decide to return your Bloom mattress during the trial, you'll need to bring it back to a Sleep Country store yourself. The company doesn't offer pickup. There's also a $65 exchange fee, and instead of a refund, you'll get store credit to use toward another mattress.

Is the Bloom Cloud mattress cover machine washable?

Yes, the Bloom Cloud's cover is machine washable. Just use a delicate cycle with cold or warm water.

What's a good Bloom mattress alternative?

We think that Douglas Original is a better pick for the price. For $799 (queen size), it includes cooling gel foam, a 365-night sleep trial, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.
