Product Overview
GhostBed Comfort Foam is a 3-layer foam mattress with a medium-firm feel. It combines contouring pressure relief with a soft, cool-to-the-touch Ghost Ice cover and a zoned ProCore™ foam layer designed to help with spinal alignment. The top cover can’t be removed or machine-washed, so you should spot-clean it only. A queen size GhostBed Comfort Foam sells for $1,149.
The Comfort Foam mattress comes with a 101-night sleep trial and a 20-year limited warranty. Returns are free after a 30-night break-in period, and GhostBed will arrange pickup at no cost.
That said, if you’re looking for a more affordable mattress with a longer sleep trial, you might want to consider a competitor mattress brand like Douglas. Their entry-level model, the Douglas Original, is priced at just $799 for a queen, includes a 365-night trial, and ships with a free bedding bundle. Douglas also includes a machine-washable top cover and multiple cooling technologies, like ecoLight® cooling gel foam and Elastex® foam to help with temperature regulation.

Ghostbed Mattress Construction
GhostBed is an American-founded company, but makes its mattresses locally when it can. That means most of its mattresses sold to Canadians, like the one we bought for this review, are made in Canada. The GhostBed Comfort Foam is a new GhostBed model as of 2025. It comes in a foam and a hybrid option. You can also upgrade to the Signature or Luxe GhostBed models.
Mattress Layers
The GhostBed Comfort Foam is an 11" all-foam mattress with 3 internal layers. All foams used in this mattress are CertiPUR-US® certified.
- 1st Layer: 2" of Ghost Bounce foam that provides pressure relief and a bit of bounce.
- 2nd Layer: 2" ProCore™ layer, which includes zoned support in its middle third to promote proper spinal alignment.
- 3rd Layer: 7" of high-density foam that helps prevent too much sinkage and gives the mattress most of its bulk.
Mattress Cover
The GhostBed Comfort Foam mattress has a white stretch-knit cover with a wavy pattern, and the GhostBed logo printed on the dark grey sidewalls near the foot. The cover is made from the brand's proprietary "Ghost Ice" fabric, which is designed to feel cool to the touch. The cover isn't removable or machine washable, so GhostBed recommends spot cleaning it only.

Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
GhostBed Comfort Foam ships across Canada through FedEx, with most orders arriving within 3–5 business days. The mattress is vacuum-sealed in plastic and delivered in a cardboard box. GhostBed says that it may take up to 48 hours to fully expand after unboxing, and the warranty says that the mattress may not reach its full intended height.
Your 101-night sleep trial starts on the day the mattress ships. That means your trial might start before you even receive the mattress. You also need to keep the mattress for at least 30 nights before starting a return. If you purchased a GhostBed at a discount, any savings you received will be deducted from the refund in the case of a return.
The GhostBed Comfort Foam mattress includes a 20-year limited warranty. This is longer than the industry-average warranty, and matches brands like Douglas. GhostBed's warranty covers body indentations greater than 1" and manufacturing defects only. It doesn't cover incidental damage, or changes in firmness or cooling performance over time.

Should You Buy GhostBed Comfort Foam?
GhostBed Comfort Foam
Queen
$1,149
GhostBed Comfort Foam has great edge support, good motion isolation, and zoned support. However, it's priced higher than some other foam mattresses, has limited cooling features, and has just an average 101-night trial. This mattress might be a good fit if you're looking for:
- A mattress with a cooling cover
- A mattress with zoned support
- A 20-year warranty
If you want a mattress that includes more cooling features, Douglas Original is a good alternative. At $799 for a queen, it has a machine-washable CoolSense® cover, ecoLight® cooling gel foam, and breathable Elastex® foam. Douglas also includes a 365-night trial, a 20-year warranty, free returns with full refunds, and a free bedding bundle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are GhostBed mattresses good?
GhostBed Comfort Foam has a few nice features like great edge support, but it's priced higher than some other Canadian-owned options, and has just one cooling component. The company has also been known to make customers pay back discounts they received.
If you're looking for a lower priced alternative with more cooling features, consider Douglas Original. A queen-size goes for $799 and includes a machine-washable and moisture-wicking cover, as well as ecoLight® cooling gel foam. You also get a 365-night sleep trial, free return pickup with a full refund, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.
Where is GhostBed made?
GhostBed mattresses are manufactured in both the United States and Central Canada. The GhostBed Comfort Foam mattress we bought and reviewed was made in Canada.
Where can I try a GhostBed?
GhostBed is available in a few Canadian showrooms, including retailers like Dufresne and Rody's Retail. Selection varies by location, and not all stores carry every GhostBed model.
How do you return a GhostBed?
You can start a return after 30 nights using GhostBed's website. The company charges a restocking fee for some products, but the Canadian site doesn't specify how much it is or how it's calculated. If you received a discount, you'll have it deducted from your refund.
Is GhostBed worth it?
GhostBed includes some advanced features like zoned support and a long warranty, but costs significantly more than similar foam mattresses sold online in Canada (like Douglas Original).
What GhostBed alternatives should I consider?
Douglas Original is a possible Ghostbed alternative you could consider. It has cooling gel foam and a machine-washable CoolSense® cover that's designed to wick away moisture and keep you cool and dry. It comes with a 365-night sleep trial, free returns, and a free bedding bundle, all at a lower price of $799 for a queen.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
