Product Overview
Marketed as a firm mattress, the Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0 from Serta Simmons Bedding is available through The Brick. It features a Euro-top design and combines gel-infused foam, additional foam layers, and a five-zoned pocketed coil system.
At $2,399 for a queen-size, it includes a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. However, the trial is exchange-only, and return fees may apply, making it less flexible than competing policies.
If you’re looking for a longer sleep trial, longer warranty, and more cooling features at a much lower price, you should take a look at Logan & Cove Frontier, a competing Canadian hybrid mattress.

Serta iComfort Mattress Construction
The Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0 is a 14" hybrid mattress with a Euro-top construction. By combining different foam types, densities, and firmness levels, Serta has designed a mattress that offers comfort, cooling, and support. The foam layers are CertiPUR-US® certified.
Mattress Layers
Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0 features 6 layers, including both foam and coils.
- 1st Layer: 0.5" cooling gel foam that contours to your body and helps draw heat away for a cooler sleep surface.
- 2nd Layer: 1″ Serta PillowSoft® Gel Foam that adds plushness and extra pressure relief.
- 3rd Layer: 0.5″ unidentified transition foam for support from the layers below
- 4th Layer: 3″ dense unidentified transition foam designed to prevent sinkage into the coils.
- 5th Layer: 8.5″ pocketed coils in five body zones for targeted support, with edge foam for added stability.
- 6th Layer: 0.5″ of base foam that provides a supportive foundation and protects the mattress from your bed frame.
Mattress Cover
The Serta iComfort mattress cover features a stylish two-tone design, combining white and navy blue. The top of the mattress showcases a white surface with a hexagonal quilted pattern, while the sidewalls are adorned with navy blue fabric accented by piping.
The "Cool Touch" cover is made with polyester and polypropylene, plus a layer of phase-change material in the top layer to help with temperature control. There's also silver woven into the fabric for a bit of antimicrobial protection. The cover isn't removable or machine washable, so you should spot-clean any stains or spills.
Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
The Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0 is sold through The Brick, and shipping costs depend on how close you are to the store. Unlike most online brands, The Brick doesn't list an estimated delivery window. The mattress arrives fully expanded and wrapped in just one layer of plastic. Delivery includes bringing it to your room of choice, but setup isn't included.
You get a 90-night sleep trial with your mattress purchase, which is a bit shorter than the usual industry standard of 100 nights. If you buy a mattress protector with your mattress from The Brick, you may be able to extend your trial to 180 nights.
During the trial, if the mattress doesn't work for you, you can change it for a different one at The Brick, but you won't receive a refund; instead, you'll get store credit. If you choose a more expensive mattress, you will need to pay the price difference and cover the delivery cost to your home.
If you wish to return the mattress without exchanging it, you will receive store credit instead of a refund. You have to take the mattress to the nearest The Brick store. According to a Brick online agent we spoke with, in some locations, you might be able to arrange a pickup from your home for an extra fee.
The warranty for this mattress depends on the law label. The one we reviewed had a "W9" code, which comes with a 10-year limited warranty. It covers manufacturing defects but not spills or damage from regular use.
If you'd rather have more time to try your mattress and a longer warranty, Logan & Cove Frontier might be worth considering. It includes a 365-night sleep trial, free returns with a full refund, and a 15-year warranty.
Company Overview
Serta is an American mattress brand that was founded in 1931 and is now based in Illinois. It's part of Serta Simmons Bedding, LLC, the same company behind Beautyrest, Simmons, and Tuft & Needle. In early 2023, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and completed its financial restructuring later that year.
In Canada, you'll find Serta mattresses at retailers like Sleep Country, The Brick, and other independent stores. Each seller has its own purchase and return policies, so it's worth checking the fine print of each store before you buy.
Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
If you're thinking about trying a Serta mattress, it's helpful to take a look at what customers are saying on sites like Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau. On Trustpilot, Serta is rated "Poor", with a customer review score of 2/5 stars. Its parent company, Serta Simmons Bedding, has a BBB profile rated "F" (unaccredited) with a customer review rating of 2/5 stars. Checking these reviews can give you a clearer picture of customer experiences before buying your mattress.
Should You Buy Serta iComfort?
Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0
Queen
$2,399
The Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0 did well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us) and could be a good pick if you're after:
- A high-end hybrid with zoned support
- A plush Euro-top cover for extra comfort
- Very good edge support and motion isolation
However, the mattress is priced at $2,399 for a queen and comes with a shorter 90-night sleep trial and an exchange-only return policy, which may limit flexibility if it's not the right fit.
If you're looking for a mattress available to purchase online with a longer sleep trial, free returns, and a free sleep bundle with your purchase, take a look at Logan & Cove Frontier. The mattress comes with a 365-night sleep trial, free returns and mattress pick-up, and a 15-year warranty. It has good edge support and great motion isolation, plus a machine-washable cover priced at just $1,299 for a queen-size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Serta iComfort a good mattress?
Serta iComfort Hybrid ProHD Vanguard 2.0 offers zoned support, good motion isolation, and a plush Euro-top design. But at $2,399 for a queen, it's at the higher price point as compared to competitors, especially considering that it comes with only a 90-night exchange-only trial and no refund option.
A hybrid mattress we think you should consider is Logan & Cove Frontier, which has more features for a lower price. At $1,299 for a queen, it includes zoned support, multiple cooling layers, and a more balanced medium-firm feel. You'll also get a 90-night trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle, all delivered to your door at no extra cost.
Do Serta mattresses have fiberglass?
No, Serta mattresses sold in Canada do not have fiberglass. Fiberglass is a common fire safety feature in mattresses made outside of Canada.
Are Serta and Beautyrest the same company?
The Beautyrest brand is owned by Simmons Bedding Company, which is a subsidiary of Serta Simmons International. Serta Simmons International was formed in 2010 following a merger of Serta, the Simmons Bedding Company, and the National Bedding Company. Since then, the company has also acquired Tuft & Needle.
Are Sealy and Serta the same company?
No, the two companies are not the same. The Sealy brand is owned and marketed by Somnigroup International (formerly Tempur Sealy International), which was formed after the Sealy Corporation merged with Tempur-Pedic.
The Serta brand is owned by Serta Simmons International, which was formed from a merger of Serta, the Simmons Bedding Company, and Serta's biggest licensee, the National Bedding Company.
What Serta mattress alternatives should I consider?
We think you should take a look at Logan & Cove Frontier. Priced at $1,299 for a queen size, Frontier features a plush Euro-top and a range of premium cooling components, like a nanofibre cooling cover, ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, breathable Elastex® foam, aeroduct micro-coils, and supportive pocketed coils. It's also built with a three-zone support system that helps encourage proper spinal alignment.
You'll get a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and free return pickup if it's not the right fit. Plus, every mattress purchase includes a free bedding bundle with a sheet set, pillow(s), mattress protector, and pillow protector(s).

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
