Product Overview
Note: For this review, we’ll default to the engineer testing scores from the mattress’s “firm” side, but provide scores from both sides when we can.
The Layla Memory Foam mattress stands 10.5″ tall and has 4 foam layers. It has a flippable design, giving you the choice between a “soft” side and a “firm” side, although third-party testing (commissioned by us) shows the difference between the two is minor. Both sides scored very similarly in firmness and performance, leaning toward a medium feel.
At $1,542 for a queen (plus a $150 USD shipping fee to Canada), the Layla is priced higher than many competing foam mattresses. In comparison, the Douglas Original mattress is $799 for a queen, and comes with free shipping, free returns, and a 20-year warranty. It also includes a full bedding bundle at no extra cost.

Layla Mattress Construction
The Layla mattress uses a few different foams to make up its flippable construction. Copper-infused memory foam helps with temperature control, while a dense support core offers firmness and stability. All foams are CertiPUR-US® certified.
Mattress Layers
The Layla Memory Foam mattress is 10.5" tall and built with 4 foam layers. Its flippable design means you can choose between a soft side and a firm side, but both sides performed very similarly in third-party testing (commissioned by us).
- 1st Layer: 1.5″ of copper-infused memory foam on the soft side. This comfort layer is designed to contour closely to your body, while the copper gel helps draw heat away.
- 2nd Layer: 2.5″ of convoluted transition foam. This layer is cut with air channels to improve breathability and provide a buffer between the softer top layer and the dense support base.
- 3rd Layer: 5.5″ of high-density support foam. This core layer gives the mattress most of its structure and helps reduce deep sinkage.
- 4th Layer: 1″ of copper-infused memory foam on the firm side. When flipped, this acts as the comfort layer. On the soft setting, it sits at the bottom, adding durability and insulation.
Mattress Cover
The Layla memory foam mattress comes with a two-tone cover made from a blend of polyester, rayon, viscose, and polylycra. The design is split into light and dark halves to indicate the soft and firm sides. It's also removable and machine washable, making it easier to keep clean.
Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
When you order a Layla mattress, it ships through FedEx Ground. If you're ordering from Canada, expect delivery to take around 3–8 business days.

Returns are free otherwise, with no additional deductions. You can start a return any time between 4 weeks and 120 nights after delivery by filling out Layla's online return form. Flash Deal sale items also aren't eligible for returns.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla Memory Foam is one of the higher-priced all-foam mattresses online. Although it's marketed as flippable, testing shows both sides feel similar and fall near the medium range. Layla has good motion isolation, but its edge support is average compared to competitors. You might like the Layla Memory Foam if you want:
- The option to flip between two firmness levels
- Copper-infused foam for cooler sleep
- A lifetime warranty
- A removable, washable cover
For a mattress with strong overall performance, you might want to consider the Douglas Original instead. It costs $799 CAD for a queen, comes with a medium-firm feel that suits all sleep styles, and outperforms the Layla memory foam mattress in edge support and cooling. Douglas also includes free shipping, free returns, a 365-night trial, and a 20-year warranty, plus a free bedding bundle. Plus, it's made in Canada.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
