Novaform: Good Value Memory Foam With Room to Improve
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus is a memory foam mattress sold online. It’s competitively priced at $699.99 excluding tax. It has three layers of foam for comfort and pressure relief. All the foam is US-made, which might matter if you want a Canadian-made product.
Cooling is one of its main features, but some customers report the mattress traps heat. If you sleep hot, this might not be ideal for you—especially since the mattress cover isn’t machine washable, so your sweat will stick around. Heavier sleepers may also sink into the foam, causing discomfort. Novaform also states their mattress maintains firmness regardless of temperature, but this isn’t fully proven. In comparison, you can get better support for all weights and temperature-regulating features with a competitor mattress like Douglas.
In summary, while Novaform ComfortGrande Plus has good features, consider its potential heat and sinking issues before buying. If you do buy and you aren’t happy with it, you can return the mattress within 90 days for a full refund, thanks to Costco’s well-known return policy. However, you will need to bring the mattress back yourself if you purchased in-store, since Costco doesn’t arrange pickups.

First Impressions: Straight out of the Box
The Arrival
You can buy the Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress online or at any Costco store. The price already includes shipping via UPS or FedEx, and you can expect to get it in 5 to 10 business days. If you’re not satisfied, there’s a 30-day return policy. You can return it at any Costco or send it back by mail for free. Keep in mind that additional charges and longer delivery times apply for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
The Unboxing
The Novaform comes in a box. Like other mattresses in a box, it’s easy to set up. After unboxing, the mattress quickly expands to its full height of 14 inches within minutes.
The Look and Feel
The Novaform mattress has a white top with a unique fabric pattern made up of blue threads and a dark blue bottom, with the Novaform logo on the side. The mattress promotes a cool-to-touch quilted cover and wicking, stay-dry memory foam for initial comfort, temperature regulation, and soft yet supportive sleep.
Novaform claims that this mattress relieves pressure on different body parts and provides back support. However, it’s crucial to consider reported user issues such as sinking before making a purchase decision. Douglas mattresses stand out with superior stability and support for a satisfying sleep experience.
Official Test Results: How Do Engineers Rate the Novaform Mattress?
The following results were determined by licensed 3rd-party engineers, commissioned by us:
To be able to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website, it was necessary to hire licensed 3rd-party engineers. Their independence and operating standards help to ensure the results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report is linked below and has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.

How Our Engineers Test Each Mattress:
Test Scores | Novaform |
---|---|
Firmness: | 3.6 / 10 |
Edge support: | 3.5 / 10 |
Motion isolation: | 6.5 / 10 |
Bounce: | 3.2 / 10 |
Feel & Firmness
The 14″ Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress is medium-firm, bordering on medium-soft. According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), it comes in at a 3.6/10 on the firmness scale, which explains customer-reported sinkage. In contrast, Douglas registers a higher score on the firmness scale for less sinkage.
Edge Support
Foam mattresses aren’t known for edge support—a common concern for customers switching from innerspring mattresses. According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), the 14″ Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress has an edge support rating of 3.5/10. Douglas mattresses offer superior edge support for more usable space.
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation in foam mattresses is usually very good and one of the main reasons couples switch from innerspring to memory foam. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the 14″ Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress ranked at 6.5 /10 on the motion isolation scale.
Bounce
Due to the fact that motion isolation for foam mattresses is very high, bounce is usually very low. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the 14″ Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress ranked 3.2 / 10 on the bounce scale.

Novaform Mattress Layers
The ComfortGrande Plus uses EVENcor GelPlus™ inside of its three foam layers. Like many of the memory foam mattresses on the market today, each layer of foam in the Novaform mattress works with the others to provide an overall level of comfort and support.
- First layer: The top cooling layer is made of 3 inches of the EVENcor GelPlus™ foam.
- Second layer: The second comfort layer is made of 3 inches of premium support foam. This is cut with air channels that help carry away heat and odours.
- Third layer: The final support layer is made of 8 inches of thick, dense support foam.
Unfortunately, the density information for the layers is unavailable on the Costco or Novaform website.
We also weren’t able to further assess the layers because the mattress comes in a fire sock. This type of cover often contains fibreglass, which may be a concern for some customers.
Novaform Mattress Cover
The Novaform mattress comes with a quilted cover designed from AdaptiCool™ fabric, ensuring a cooling effect.
However, when compared to its rivals like Douglas and Bloom, Novaform doesn’t place a high priority on incorporating environmentally friendly materials in the construction of its outer layers.

Novaform sells its ComfortGrande Plus Mattress through a Costco partnership, with availability extended via Amazon’s third-party sellers. The mattress is shipped for free to all 50 US states when purchased through Costco, typically arriving within five business days. However, Novaform falls short in additional services compared to Douglas, as it charges an extra fee for old mattress removal.
While Novaform offers a general return policy through Costco, Douglas goes above and beyond, providing a generous 365-night sleep trial. This extended trial period allows customers ample time to fully experience the comfort and quality of their Douglas mattress, highlighting Douglas’s commitment to customer satisfaction.
Novaform mattresses come with a 20-year limited warranty, covering specific manufacturing defects. However, Douglas goes beyond this offering with a comprehensive 20-year warranty, further demonstrating their confidence in the durability and quality of their products. When considering these factors, Douglas emerges as a more appealing option due to its superior customer-focused services and policies.

Final Thoughts on Novaform
The Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress is a decent choice for those seeking a budget-friendly memory foam mattress. However, customers report that it falls short in areas such as heat retention and support for heavier sleepers.
The Canadian-made Douglas mattress, although pricier, surpasses Novaform with advanced cooling technology, extensive sleep trial, and superior support. This represents better overall value for customers seeking advanced features and comprehensive long-term product support.
