Product Overview
The Serta Chinook is a medium-firm foam mattress sold exclusively through Canadian Tire. Serta is a well-known North American brand with a long history in mattress manufacturing, but the Chinook is designed specifically for Canadian buyers looking for a simple mattress option.
This mattress falls into the mid-range price category, with a queen size priced at $749. It’s made in Canada and features gel-infused memory foam for cooling, along with a soy-based foam support core.
The Chinook comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty, which is typical for mattresses in this price range. While Serta encourages customers to try the mattress for the full 100 nights, Canadian Tire’s return policy requires that any return be completed within 90 days of purchase. If you decide to return the mattress, you’ll need to contact Serta’s customer service. They’ll provide instructions on donating the mattress to a local charity. Once the donation is confirmed with a receipt, you can bring it to Canadian Tire to receive your refund.
If you’re comparing your options, you might like the Juno mattress. Juno is a medium-firm foam mattress, too, designed to be simple and affordable. But Juno is more budget friendly than Chinook at just $499 for a queen size. Plus, it has cooling features like cooling yarn cover, which keeps surface temperatures low for a cooler touch, and a layer of cooling gel foam. You’ll also get a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with your mattress purchase.

Serta Chinook Mattress Construction
Mattress Layers
Serta Chinook contains 2 layers of foam and measures 10.5" tall. Like most combination foam mattresses today, the layers work together to provide a comfortable yet supportive sleep surface. All foam used in the mattress is CertiPUR-US® certified.
- 1st Layer: 2" cooling gel foam designed to promote comfort and some level of cooling.
- 2nd Layer: 7″ soy-infused foam that acts as the support layer. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and stops you from sinking too deeply into it when you're lying down.
Mattress Cover
The Serta Chinook has a simple, modern design with a white and grey colour patterned to illustrate the wind. The cover is entirely made of polyester. According to the law label attached to the mattress, the cover on the Serta Chinook is spot-clean only.

Delivery & Other Policies
The Serta Chinook mattress is sold exclusively through Canadian Tire and ships from warehouses across Canada. Delivery typically takes 3–10 business days, depending on your location. The mattress arrives in a box, making it easy to move around.
Canadian Tire offers a few delivery options at checkout. The standard delivery includes curbside or front-door drop-off at no extra charge. For larger items, you can choose the delivery which brings the mattress into a room of your choice. There's also an option to have the packaging removed, but setup and mattress assembly aren't included. A full white-glove delivery service is not currently available.
The Serta Chinook includes a 100-night sleep trial. While Serta recommends trying the mattress for the full 100 nights, Canadian Tire's return policy requires that returns be completed within 90 days of purchase. If you decide to return it, contact Serta's customer service team to begin the process. They'll direct you to donate the mattress to a local charity and provide a donation receipt, which you'll then bring to Canadian Tire for a full refund. Delivery charges, however, are non-refundable.
Company Overview
Serta is an American mattress brand that was founded in 1931 and is now based in Illinois. It's part of Serta Simmons Bedding, LLC, the same company behind Beautyrest, Simmons, and Tuft & Needle. In early 2023, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and completed its financial restructuring later that year.
In Canada, you'll find Serta mattresses at retailers like Sleep Country, The Brick, and other independent stores. Each seller has its own purchase and return policies, so it's worth checking the fine print of each store before you buy.
Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
If you're thinking about trying a Serta mattress, it's helpful to take a look at what customers are saying on sites like Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau. On Trustpilot, Serta is rated "Poor", with a customer review score of 2/5 stars. Its parent company, Serta Simmons Bedding, has a BBB profile rated "F" (unaccredited) with a customer review rating of 2/5 stars. Checking these reviews can give you a clearer picture of customer experiences before buying your mattress.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
