The S&S Mattress is designed and made in Canada. The medium-firm version is 10″ tall with a 3-layer all-foam construction. S&S comes in three firmness options and includes a 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. Delivery is free to most Canadian addresses, but there may be fees for more remote orders.
At $800 for a queen-size, the medium-firm S&S mattress costs a bit more than some budget-friendly foam mattresses, but is on par with similar models across Canada. The S&S mattress earned good scores for edge support and motion isolation, and incorporates a couple of cooling features.
In comparison, competitor mattresses like Douglas Original offer similar performance and pricing to S&S, with more cooling features, plus a longer 20-year warranty. Every Douglas Original also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, along with a free bedding bundle including a cotton sheet set, pillow(s), pillow protector(s), and a mattress protector.

Silk & Snow Mattress Construction
The S&S Mattress is a memory foam mattress that comes in three firmness options. Silk & Snow uses different foam amounts and densities to create each firmness level. All the foam Silk & Snow uses is CertiPUR-US® certified, made by a Toronto manufacturer.
Mattress Layers
The medium-firm Silk & Snow mattress contains 3 layers of foam and measures 10" tall. S&S achieves its comfort and support by using:
- 1st Layer: 2" of open-cell, high-density gel memory foam that cushions pressure points while helping to regulate temperatures.
- 2nd Layer: 2" of polyurethane foam that helps reduce motion transfer and adds a bit of cushioning between the comfort and support layers.
- 3rd Layer: 6" of support base foam that adds firmness and overall support at the bottom of the mattress.
Mattress Cover
The S&S Mattress features a two-tone design, with a dark blue base and a white top cover. The zipper wraps fully around the mattress, so the cover can be removed and machine-washed. The cover is made from 100% polyester, according to the law label. Silk & Snow says this fabric is antimicrobial, but doesn't explain how it treats its polyester to have this property.
For a moisture-wicking, removable cover with plant-based fibres, check out Douglas.

Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Company Overview
Silk & Snow is a North American brand that offers a range of bed and bath products to customers in both Canada and the United States.
Silk & Snow entered into the bed-in-a-box market in 2017 with its first memory foam mattress, formerly known as the Original, now renamed the S&S Mattress. Since then, the brand has expanded its lineup to include two more mattress models and a range of bath products.
Sleep Country Canada acquired Silk & Snow in early 2023. While their mattresses are still sold exclusively through Silk & Snow's website and branded stores, Sleep Country does stock a selection of the brand's accessories.
Customer Reviews and Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

$800
The Silk & Snow mattress comes in 3 firmness options, and has strong motion isolation and edge support scores. That said, the mattress only has a couple of cooling features, which may make it a less ideal choice for hot sleepers. You might like the S&S mattress if you want:

- A machine-washable cover
- A sleep trial and warranty longer than the industry standard
If you're looking for more cooling features and higher motion isolation at around the same price point, the Canadian-made Douglas Original is worth considering. Douglas comes with an identical 365-night sleep trial and a longer 20-year warranty.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
