Product Overview
Note: The Simba 5000 mattress has been discontinued and is no longer sold through the Sleep Country website. To see comparable alternatives, see our Best Mattress in Canada list.
The Simba 5000 Pro Flex is advertised as medium-firm and features breathable foam layers paired with up to 5,000 micro coils in a hybrid design. While we haven’t validated the firmness with third-party engineer testing, our reviewers found that the description matches the feel.
At $2,499 CAD for a queen, it sits at the higher end of the price range. Each mattress included a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty, which are both standard for the mattress industry.
The Logan & Cove Frontier is a possible alternative. It’s priced lower than Simba 5000 and comes with a 365-night sleep trial, which gives you more time to test it out at home. Logan & Cove also offers full refunds during the trial period, while Sleep Country’s policy only allows for exchanges. That could be something to keep in mind, especially if you aren’t able to try the Simba mattress in-store first.

Simba 5000 Mattress Construction
Simba 5000 is a 14" hybrid mattress with 6 distinct interior layers. Three of these layers are foam, and one uses up to 2,500 micro-coils. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.
Mattress Layers
- Layer 1: 0.375″ of hypoallergenic, hand-knitted wool designed for breathability and temperature regulation at the surface.
- Layer 2: 2.5″ of graphite-infused Simbatex open-cell foam that promotes airflow, and helps regulate body temperature.
- Layer 3: 1″ of micro-coils that contour to the body and evenly distribute weight, with up to 2,500 coils depending on mattress size.
- Layer 4: 1″ of additional micro-coils for enhanced contouring and pressure relief, surrounded by edge-support encasement foam.
- Layer 5: 2″ of support foam that stabilizes the mattress core and minimizes edge sag or roll-off sensation.
- Layer 6: 7.125″ of zoned support foam with wool filling and integrated air channels to improve breathability and targeted ergonomic support.
Mattress Cover
Simba's mattress cover is made of polyester, polypropylene, and a small amount of elastane. It has handles on the side to make moving the mattress easier. Although it has a zipper, the cover is not meant to be removed and is not machine-washable. Simba recommends that you spot-clean this mattress only.
Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
When you purchase a Simba 5000 mattress from Sleep Country Canada, it arrives at your home compressed and boxed. Delivery typically takes between 3 and 10 business days, and shipping is free on orders over $75; however, customers in Newfoundland and Labrador or the Canadian Territories should note there's a $120 shipping surcharge.
The Simba mattress comes with a 10-year limited warranty from Sleep Country, which covers manufacturing defects. This duration aligns with standard industry offerings.
You'll also receive a 100-night sleep trial to see if the mattress works for you. If you decide to return it during that period, you'll need to bring it to a Sleep Country store yourself, even if you ordered it online. The company doesn't provide pick-up services for returns and doesn't offer refunds. Instead, you'll receive in-store credit (less a $65 exchange fee) that can be applied to another mattress. If the new mattress costs more, you'll be responsible for paying the difference.

Company Overview
Simba is a mattress company founded in 2015 and is based in London, England. Their line of micro-coil mattresses soon became top-sellers in Europe. In 2018, Sleep Country Canada purchased the exclusive rights to sell Simba mattresses in Canada. Though the first Simba mattresses sold in Canada were made in China, these days the Simba mattresses sold at Sleep Country are produced domestically. The brand also sells a variety of sleep accessories, such as pillows, duvets, and mattress protectors.
Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Simba has a good online reputation, with a Trustpilot rating of "Excellent". Although the company doesn't have its own Better Business Bureau profile, the company's Canadian distributor, Sleep Country, is rated "A+" (unaccredited) on BBB with a customer review rating of 1.32/5. It also has a "Poor" rating on Trustpilot.
Should You Buy Simba 5000?
The Simba 5000 offers a breathable hybrid build with below-average edge support and above-average motion isolation. It's priced higher than many hybrid mattresses in its class, but includes some premium materials and a 100-night trial. Simba 5000 Pro Flex could be a good fit if you want:
- To buy your mattress from a major retailer like Sleep Country
- Thousands of micro-coils for pressure-point relief
- The ability to try out the mattress in a mattress showroom
If you want strong cooling, a longer trial, and a bigger warranty, consider the Logan & Cove Frontier. It has advanced cooling layers, aeroduct coils, Elastex foam, and pocketed coils for zoned support. You'll get a 365-night trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle at $1,299 for a queen. Full refunds and free return pickup are included.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Simba mattresses good?
The Simba 5000 offers above-average edge support, very good motion isolation, and a medium-firm feel that works well for most sleep positions. On the other hand, it costs more than some other hybrid mattresses, comes with a standard 100-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty, and you won't have the option of a free return pickup with a full refund.
You may be interested in a mattress like Logan & Cove Frontier instead. At $1,299 for a queen size, Frontier earned a higher cooling features score than Simba. You'll get Logan & Cove's 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty, as well as a free bedding bundle with your purchase.
How much is a Simba mattress?
Simba 5000 is priced between $1,899 and $2,899 and is available in twin to king sizes. A queen-size Simba 5000 costs $2,499.
Where are Simba mattresses made?
Simba manufactures mattresses for its Canadian market in Canada.
Does the Simba mattress come in a box?
Yes, Simba mattresses come in a box. Simba rolls and compresses its mattresses like other bed-in-a-box brands for easier shipping.
How long does it take for a Simba mattress to expand?
According to the FAQ on Simba's Canadian website, the mattress may take up to 72 hours to fully expand once unpacked and unrolled.
Do you have to rotate a Simba mattress?
Yes, Simba recommends rotating your mattress once a month for the first 3 months, and once every 3-6 months after that. Simba 5000 has fabric handles on the side to make this easier. However, it is not clear whether the fabric handles (or any damage caused to the handles when used to pull the mattress) are covered under Simba's warranty.
Is the Simba mattress worth it?
Simba 5000 has a few good features, but compared to other hybrid mattresses, Simba's sleep trial and warranty are just average. We recommend looking at hybrid mattress brand Logan & Cove Frontier which has higher scores for edge support and cooling features, as well as a longer sleep trial and warranty.
What Simba mattress alternatives should I consider?
We suggest checking out Logan & Cove Frontier. At just $1,299 for a queen size, Frontier is more affordable than Simba. Frontier features zoned support, pressure-point relief, and advanced cooling features like CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, a breathable hollow fibre fill, and gel-infused foam in the top cover.
Logan & Cove also comes with a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty, free returns with a full refund, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
