Indonesia

Spa Sensations by Zinus is an 8" innerspring mattress with a firm feel and a simple design. It has 3 layers, including metal coils that add a bit of breathability. However, it has no extra cooling features.

Mattress Layers

  • 1st Layer: 3/4″ of conforming viscoelastic latex foam. That makes this mattress comfortable and quickly conforms to your body's shape.
  • 2nd Layer: 1" of high-density foam that prevents you from feeling the coils beneath.
  • 3rd Layer: 6" of metal coils. It's designed to add support and firmness to the mattress, and also help to boost airflow as the coils allow for breathability on the mattress.

Mattress Cover

The cover on this mattress is sewn with a jacquard pattern, a type of woven design that adds a textured, geometric look. The fabric is 100% polyester and isn't removable or machine washable, so you'll need to spot-clean it if there are any spills or stains.

During our review, we noticed a spring sticking out from the bottom of the mattress, which caused a small scratch during unboxing. While this could be a one-off issue, it's worth noting.

Mattress Testing

/10

Made in

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Spa sensation scored 7.0/10 for firmness. This places the mattress in the "firm" category.

A firm mattress is usually best for those who sleep on their backs or stomachs, or anyone with a heavier body type. Side or combination sleepers might want to consider a medium-firm mattress like Juno instead, with its firmness score of 6.0/10.

Our Rating
?

Determined by how much the mattress sinks under applied weight. The lower the score out of 10, the softer the mattress.

7.0

/10

Edge Support

Spa Sensations scored 8.0/10 for edge support. This is a great score for a foam mattress. You can sleep near or sit on the edge of the bed without any trouble.

Our Rating
?

Determined by how much the mattress edge sinks under applied weight. A mattress with average to good edge support will score 5/10 or higher.

8.0

/10

Cooling Features

Our mattress reviewers awarded Spa Sensations a cooling feature score of 2.4/10. This score is calculated based on the features below:

  1. Innerspring construction, which permits some airflow through the coils
  2. A top layer of conforming viscoelastic latex foam to allow for some breathability

For an affordable mattress with more cooling features, we recommend Juno with its higher score of 3.2/10. Juno has a layer of cooling gel foam to reduce heat buildup and improve airflow. You can also upgrade to the optional cooling cover crafted from special cooling yarn for added comfort.

Our Rating
?

Determined by entering a mattress's cooling features into our scoring algorithm. The more effective cooling features that are present, the higher the score out of 10.

2.4

/10

Motion Isolation

Spa Sensations scored 7.1/10 for motion isolation. That's a very good result for an innerspring mattress. Most sleepers won't notice smaller movements, like a partner shifting positions. Larger movements might be more noticeable, though.

Our Rating
?

Determined by measuring a medicine ball's impact on the mattress. Average to good motion isolation would be 5/10 or higher.

7.1

/10

Bounce

Spa Sensations earned a 10/10 score for bounce. This is very high for any mattress, and is the highest we've come across so far.

If you prefer a mattress with less bounce, Juno has a more stable sleep surface, scoring just 2.5/10.

Our Rating
?

Determined by dropping a medicine ball onto the mattress. The higher the first bounce, the higher the score out of 10.

Delivery & Other Policies

If you're looking to buy a Spa Sensations mattress in Canada, you'll need to go through a third-party retailer. As of now, Walmart is one of the authorized sellers. Walmart shipping is free on orders over $35 and usually takes 1–3 business days to reach most locations in Canada.

One thing to keep in mind: Zinus doesn't offer a sleep trial for Canadian shoppers. Your return and trial options will depend on the retailer. According to their website, Walmart offers a 90-day free return. However, some Spa Sensations models may be marked final sale, in which case Walmart may direct you to contact Zinus for any issues. Zinus's refund policy is not disclosed, so it may vary.

Zinus does include a 10-year limited warranty, but it only covers manufacturing defects. The warranty becomes void if the mattress is used without a proper foundation, is altered in any way, or if the cover or tags are removed.

If you're looking for a mattress with strong cooling features, a longer sleep trial period, the option to return the mattress for a full refund, and a 15-year warranty, you might want to consider Juno.

South Korea

Zinus is a global mattress and furniture brand that started in South Korea in 1979, founded by Youn Jae Lee. The company designs and manufactures its own products, including foam and hybrid mattresses, bed frames, and other furniture. The company does not sell directly to Canadians. Instead, Zinus sells products in Canada through third-party retailers such as Amazon.ca, Wayfair, Walmart, and others.

Zinus is currently facing a proposed class-action lawsuit in the U.S. after various families had health issues linked to fibreglass in their mattresses. Although Zinus has started selling mattresses with safer fire sock materials, you might prefer a Canadian-made mattress like Juno, which is guaranteed fibreglass-free.

Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

Zinus is rated "D-" (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau with a customer review rating of 1/5 stars, and the company is rated "Poor" on Trustpilot with 1.8/5 stars. It doesn't look like the company replies to any customer reviews on these sites.
