At $599 for a queen, ABROTTEN also performed pretty well for both edge support and motion isolation. That said, it offers limited cooling features, which might be a drawback if you're a warmer sleeper or looking for extra comfort features. Its cover is removable and machine washable for easy cleaning.

Both Juno and IKEA ABROTTEN are 8" tall foam mattresses. Juno is made of 2 foam layers and is made in Canada by a Canadian brand. In comparison, the IKEA mattress includes 3 foam layers and is made in Mexico by a Swedish brand.

• 1st Layer: 2" Full-Body Cooling Gel Foam that contours to your body for pressure relief and helps keep you cool while you sleep.
• 2nd Layer: 6" Total Support Foam adds firmness, limits motion transfer, and reinforces the edges.

The grey-white-and-berry pattern of Juno's cover design pays tribute to the classic striped wool socks Canadians love. It's made of polyester and viscose materials, and isn't removable, so it should be spot-cleaned only.

Juno also offers a cooling cover upgrade for $79 CAD. The Cool+ cover adds the brand's proprietary cooling yarn to the standard Juno cover.

IKEA ABROTTEN

• 1st Layer: 1.5" of high-resilience polyurethane foam offers pressure relief without too much sink, keeping you supported instead of feeling stuck in the mattress.
• 2nd Layer: 1.25" of polyurethane foam adds extra pressure-point relief. IKEA describes this foam layer as "soft and resilient".
• 3rd Layer: 5.5" of convoluted polyurethane support foam provides structural support to the mattress, preventing too much sinkage and also improving breathability.

The IKEA ABROTTEN mattress cover is made of a polyester-polyethylene blend. Lined with breathable polypropylene, it has a soft and stretchy feel. Underneath the removable, machine-washable mattress cover is an inner cover made of recycled polyester.

Mattress Performance

In third-party engineering testing (commissioned by us), both mattresses landed in the medium-firm category, which makes them a good choice whether you sleep on your stomach, back, or side. 

Both mattresses also performed well for motion isolation and edge support. If you share a bed, good motion isolation means you're less likely to notice your partner moving during the night. And good edge support matters if you like to sit on the edge of the bed, as it gives you more usable and supportive space on the mattress.

Where Juno Differs:

• Juno had a low bounce score of 2.5/10. This helps minimize motion transfer, making it a great option if you're a light sleeper who wakes easily.
• Juno scored a slightly higher score of 3.2/10 for its cooling features compared to the IKEA mattress, thanks to its cooling gel foam layer and optional Cool+ cover, which is infused with cooling yarn. If you run hot at night, this would be the better pick for you.

Where IKEA ABROTTEN Differs:

• The ABROTTEN mattress had a higher bounce score of 5.1/10. A higher bounce means it's easier to switch positions, but may make movements more noticeable and wake you up.
• IKEA scored lower at 2.0/10 for its cooling features, with its breathable top cover and perforated foam. Hot sleepers may still find this mattress too warm to stay cool through the night.

Juno ships with FedEx for free delivery in most Canadian locations (fees may apply for remote locations). Your order ships from Ontario or Alberta and arrives at your door in 2–10 business days.

The mattress arrives compressed, sealed in plastic, and packed in a box, making it convenient to move to your bedroom. Once opened, the mattress expands quickly, so you can sleep on it the very same night.

Juno's parent company, GoodMorning, also operates a couple of stores in Canada (primarily in Alberta and Ontario) where customers can try mattresses in-store and take them home the same day.

Along with a 15-year warranty, Juno offers a 120-night sleep trial to test the mattress at home. In the event of a return, Juno offers free pickup during the sleep trial period and issues a full refund. Returned mattresses are either donated to a local charity or recycled, depending on what's permitted in your region.

IKEA ABROTTEN

IKEA mattresses are available in-store and online, with shipping across most of Canada via FedEx for an in-home delivery fee of $39 or more. You can also come to the store for a free pick-up. The mattress is wrapped in plastic, rolled up, and secured with two straps.

While ABROTTEN is backed by the industry-standard 10-year manufacturer's limited warranty, it only offers a 90-night sleep trial, which is shorter than the industry-standard 100-night trial. You're only allowed a one-time exchange (for a mattress of equal or greater value) or a store credit refund, no cash back. 

You don't have to re-roll your mattress for a return, but IKEA asks that you protect it during transit. Return pickup service is available only if the mattress is clean and undamaged, and it may incur a fee.
