Casper Snow Mattress Construction
Casper Snow is a hybrid mattress, meaning it uses layers of foam and coils to keep you supported and comfortable. It's also designed with some cooling features for hot sleepers. The Casper Hybrid Snow mattress should measure about 12" tall (the one we ordered was 11.5").
Even though we ordered this Casper Snow mattress in 2026, the model we got sent was manufactured in 2023. Having a mattress rolled and compressed for such a long time can affect its longevity, comfort, and performance. This long time spent boxed had an impact on Casper Snow's final score.
Mattress Layers
The Casper Snow has 5 layers, and it uses CertiPUR-US® certified foams. These foams have been screened for flame-retardants and other harmful chemicals.
- 1st Layer: 1" of polyurethane foam with AirScape™ technology (Casper's proprietary name for perforated foam) and phase-change material to help keep the surface breathable and cool.
- 2nd Layer: 1.5" of memory foam with zoned support. You can find Casper's graphite HeatDelete® Bands in the middle section of this layer. These bands are designed to pull heat away from your body so you don't get too warm at night.
- 3rd Layer: 2" of extra memory foam to help keep you from feeling the coil layer underneath.
- 4th Layer: 6" of individually pocketed Flex Coils that are surrounded by a strong foam encasement. The coils give the mattress bounce and support in the middle, and the foam encasement helps with edge support.
- 5th Layer: 1" of foam underneath the coils that acts as a foundation, and prevents the coils from making noise, or scratching or damaging your foundation.
Mattress Cover
Casper Snow has a two-tone grey cover with the mattress's name at the foot of the bed. According to its law label, Snow's QuickCool™ cover is made mostly of polyester, but also has polyethylene, recycled cotton, spandex, and rayon. Even though this mattress cover has a zipper, the Casper Canada website says you should spot-clean it only.

Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
Casper offers free shipping to most Canadian addresses, but additional fees usually apply for remote locations and territories. Orders typically arrive at your door within 5–15 business days.
The brand offers the industry standard 100-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty with its mattresses. That means you'll be able to try out the mattress in your own home for around 3 months. But there are Canadian competitors like Octave Horizon that offer a longer 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty (and at a lower price).
Your trial and warranty terms and conditions can also depend on where you buy your mattress. Casper Snow is available through Casper Canada and Sleep Country Canada. While Casper offers free return pickups and full refunds, Sleep Country doesn't. If you buy your mattress through Sleep Country (Casper Canada's parent company), your sleep trial allows a one-time exchange for a $99 fee. Plus, you have to bring the mattress back to the store yourself. It's always a good idea to double-check policies before purchasing.

Company Overview
Casper was one of the first bed-in-a-box brands to gain widespread recognition in North America, launching in 2014. Since then, most of its competitors have joined the bed-in-a-box mattress industry with more specialized options, a lower price point, or a combination of the two.
Casper went public in 2020 but was taken private again in 2022 after a stock collapse. In 2022, Casper shut down its European operations, focusing on the North American market. In 2023, Casper sold its Canadian operations to Sleep Country Canada, and in 2024, its US operations were acquired by one of its suppliers, Carpenter Corporation.
Today, the company offers mattresses, bedding accessories, and home decor. Products are sold online, through branded retail stores, and at Sleep Country locations in Canada. Their mattresses sometimes have rotating sales or deals that may include free sleep accessories.
Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Casper has separate American and Canadian operations, but uses one combined Trustpilot page, which is rated "Poor" with a 2/5 star review rating. Casper doesn't have a Canadian BBB profile, but its American BBB profile has a rating of "A-" (unaccredited) and a customer review score of 1.16/5. Casper's parent company, Sleep Country Canada, has a customer review score of 1.34/5 on BBB, and is rated "Bad" on Trustpilot.
Should You Buy Casper Snow?
Casper Snow is a hybrid mattress designed with cooling in mind. You can buy it either through Casper Canada or Sleep Country (but look out for the different return policies). The Snow hybrid has very good edge support and great motion isolation, plus some cooling features. But it's more expensive than some other cooling options at $2,999 for a queen size. You might like Casper Snow if you want:
- To buy your mattress from a major retailer like Sleep Country
- A mattress with very good edge support and great motion isolation
- The ability to try out the mattress in a showroom
That said, if cooling is important to you, you might like the Octave Horizon. It earned a higher cooling feature score than Casper Snow and comes with a machine-washable cover, a longer 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and free returns with full refunds. You also get a free bedding bundle with your purchase, and all for a more affordable price of $1,599 for a queen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Casper Snow mattress good?
Casper Snow earned strong edge support and motion isolation scores in our commissioned engineer testing, and has some decent cooling features. That said, it's more expensive than some competitor options, and its sleep trial and warranty are just average for the industry. If you buy your mattress through Sleep Country Canada, you also can't get a refund.
It's also worth noting that the mattress we received had a different design from the one shown on the Casper Canada website when we placed our order. It turned out that, despite ordering this mattress in 2026, we received one manufactured 2.5 years earlier (in October 2023). We factor time spent boxed into our scoring, which is part of the reason why this Casper Snow mattress got a low overall rating of 4.3/10.
If you're looking for a more affordable Canadian cooling mattress, consider Octave. With an overall rating of 9.6/10, Octave Horizon costs $1,599 for a queen size and comes with more cooling features, a machine-washable cover, a longer 365-night trial and 15-year warranty, free returns with a full refund, plus a free bedding bundle.
How much does Casper Snow cost?
Casper Snow is available in sizes ranging from twin to California king, priced from $2,199 to $3,499. A queen costs $2,999.
What is the Casper Snow firmness?
The Casper Snow mattress is described as a "medium-plush" mattress on the Casper Canada website and "plush" on Sleep Country's. But in third-party engineer testing we commissioned, Casper Snow scored a 6.0/10 for firmness, putting it in our medium-firm category. This means the mattress could feel a little firmer than you're expecting, although medium-firm mattresses usually work well for most sleep styles and body types.
Is Casper Snow technology worth it?
The Casper Snow mattress is advertised as a cooling mattress designed for hot sleepers. It has cooling features like a cool-to-the-touch cover, perforated foam, phase change material, flexible strips of graphite, and a breathable coil layer. But these features come at a higher-than-industry-average price of $2,999 for a queen size.
If cooling is important to you, but you don't want to break the bank, check out the Octave Horizon mattress. It has even more cooling features than Casper, like its cooling nanofibre top cover, copper-infused foam, phase-change material, perforated latex layer, open-cell and cooling gel foam, and ventilated support foam. All of these cooling elements are available in Horizon for a lower price of $1,599 for a queen mattress.
Can you flip a Casper mattress?
Casper mattresses are designed with a specific top and bottom, so they shouldn't be flipped. That said, you can help extend the lifespan of your mattress by rotating it head-to-foot every so often. Casper recommends every 3 to 6 months to ensure even wear.
Is the Casper Snow cover machine-washable?
No, the Casper Snow cover isn't machine-washable. The cover has a zipper, but the Casper website tells customers to spot-clean the mattress only.
Where are Casper mattresses made?
Casper Canada makes most of its mattresses in Canada and Vietnam, with select models made in the United States. The Casper Snow mattress we purchased for this review was made in the United States (almost 3 years prior to us ordering it).
Who owns Casper mattress?
The Casper brand's Canadian operations have been owned by Sleep Country Canada since 2023. Casper is originally an American brand, and it still operates separately from the Canadian business in the United States.
What Casper mattress alternatives should I consider?
We think that the Octave Horizon is a good Canadian cooling mattress alternative. At $1,599 for a queen, Horizon offers multiple cooling features, all while being more affordable than Casper Snow.
To help keep you cool, Octave Horizon has a CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre cover that wicks moisture away, keeping the sleep surface drier. Plus, its 5 layers are designed for cool comfort, like its copper-infused memory foam with PolarMAX® phase-change material, aerated latex foam with built-in ventilation, ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, and multi-zone support foam with air channels.
You also get a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with purchase, which includes a bamboo sheet set and shams, bamboo duvet cover, down alternative duvet, adjustable pillow(s), pillow protector(s), and a mattress protector.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
