The Studio Acton is a 10" tall innerspring mattress made of 5 layers of polyester and wool-blend batting, foam, and metal coils. Its edge contains 3" of high-density foam encasement. The foams in this mattress aren't CertiPUR-US® certified.
This mattress builds up to 2" of transition and comfort materials in small increments. These layers add cushioning so you don't feel the support system underneath.
Studio Acton's mattress cover is made of a viscose and polypropylene blend, which is hypoallergenic and breathable. Kingsdown mentions that the mattress contains wool-batting to help absorb body heat and offer antimicrobial benefits.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.
Sleep Country markets the Kingsdown Studio Acton as a "firm" mattress. In third-party engineer testing commissioned by us, it scored 6.7/10 for firmness, which places the mattress in our "medium-firm" category. Medium-firm mattresses are comfortable for all sleep styles and body types.
The Kingsdown Studio Acton received a standout 9.7/10 edge-support score in third-party engineer testing. Sleepers can sit or sleep on the edge of the bed and feel really well supported.
Our mattress reviewers awarded the Kingsdown Studio Acton a cooling feature score of 3.3/10. This score is calculated based on the features below:
If you're looking for a mattress with more cooling features, consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. Its top cover is designed with cooling nanofibres, breathable hollow fibre, and gel-infused foam, while its internal layers include more gel foam and individually wrapped steel pocketed coils. All in all, Choice earned a higher cooling feature score of 5.0/10.
The Studio Acton scored 7.1/10 for motion isolation, which is very good for an innerspring mattress. You may still feel larger movements from a partner, but smaller movements will be absorbed into the bed and shouldn't be noticeable.
If you're looking for a mattress with even more motion isolation, we recommend the Logan & Cove Choice, with its higher score of 7.5/10.
The Studio Acton mattress scored 8.7/10 for bounce. This is a high score, even for an innerspring mattress. While it may be easier to shift positions on this mattress, it will spring back to its original position quickly, meaning less hug and contouring.
For a mattress with less bounce, check out Logan & Cove Choice. It has a bounce score of 5.8/10, which means the mattress surface feels more stable and hugs your body more. It's also more affordable than Studio Acton, at $999 for a queen-size.
When you order a Kingsdown mattress from Sleep Country Canada, it'll be delivered to you fully expanded. Delivery usually takes 3–5 business days, and shipping is free if your order is over $75. Just a heads-up, though: if you're in Newfoundland and Labrador or one of the Canadian Territories, there's a $120 shipping surcharge.
Sleep Country includes a 10-year limited warranty with your mattress, which covers manufacturing defects. This is standard in the industry.
You also get a 100-night sleep trial to decide if it's the right fit for you. If you return the mattress during the trial, you'll need to bring it back to a Sleep Country store yourself, even if you bought it online. The company doesn't do mattress pick-ups for returns, and they don't issue refunds. Instead, you'll get in-store credit (minus a $65 exchange fee) to use toward another mattress. If your next pick is more expensive, you'll cover the difference in price.

Kingsdown Studio Acton offers standout edge support and a very responsive surface. It's a medium-firm feeling mattress with an industry-average sleep trial and warranty, plus an exchange-only return policy. Studio Acton might be right for you if you want:
That said, we think you should consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice stands out with more cooling features, a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. Plus, you get a free bedding bundle with your purchase, all for the more affordable price of just $999 for a queen-size.

Kingsdown Studio Acton performed well in third-party engineer testing that we commissioned. It offers strong edge support and motion isolation, and a very high level of bounce. However, its sleep trial and warranty are only average, and it's priced higher than mattresses with more features, like Logan & Cove Choice.
The Kingsdown Studio Acton mattress is sold exclusively at Sleep Country Canada. Other Kingsdown mattresses are available at a selection of retailers like Sleep Country, The Brick, and Leon's.
Kingsdown has a manufacturing facility in North Carolina, USA. The company also has operations in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. The Kingsdown Studio Acton we received was made in Canada.
We recommend Logan & Cove Choice. This mattress combines advanced cooling technologies for a comfortable night's sleep, including gel-infused foam, breathable Elastex® foam, and CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres in the cover. With a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle, Logan & Cove Choice delivers a hybrid mattress to Canadian shoppers at a lower price point of $999 for a queen size.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
