Product Overview
The Saatva Classic is an innerspring mattress that comes in three firmness options: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. While Saatva refers to it as both an innerspring and a hybrid, it leans more toward a traditional innerspring since it has less than 2 inches of foam. It also comes in two height options, 11.5″ and 14.5″. We bought the luxury firm 11.5″ model for this review.
Saatva has a dual-coil system that allows for good airflow throughout the mattress. But our mattress reviewers gave the Saatva Classic just 1.6/10 for cooling. Hot sleepers might want to choose a mattress with more cooling technologies. Saatva offers a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty, but these wouldn’t apply to Canadians.
If you’re looking for a comparable Canadian option, you might like the Logan & Cove Choice mattress. It’s also a medium-firm hybrid, but comes in at a more affordable price of $999 for a queen size. Logan & Cove is made in Canada and offers zoned support, advanced cooling features, and better motion isolation. You’ll also get a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with your mattress.
Note: For this review, we purchased a mattress directly from Saatva and had it shipped internationally. This model isn’t available for direct sale in Canada.

Saatva Mattress Construction
The Saatva Classic features a unique dual-coil design made up of two layers of tempered steel coils. The top layer uses individually wrapped 14.5-gauge coils for targeted support, while the bottom layer consists of 13-gauge Bonnell-style coils for overall durability.
Both coil layers are surrounded by dense foam along the edges, which helps give the mattress its strong edge support. Saatva is made in the United States using CertiPUR-US certified foams.
Mattress Layers
Saatva Classic contains 3 layers (1 foam layer and 2 layers of coil), no matter which height or firmness level you choose. We bought the 11.5" version in a luxury firm feel.
- 1st Layer: 1.5″ of soft foam designed to add comfort and prevent you from feeling the coils underneath. In the middle third of this layer, there's a "lumbar crown" made of high-density memory foam and a "spinal wire" to help relieve pressure on your lower back.
- 2nd Layer: 6" of 14.5-gauge individually pocketed coils. These thinner coils are more responsive and adjust to your body's shape. Saatva says these coils are firmer in the middle, where most of your weight rests.
- 3rd Layer: 4" tall 13-gauge innerspring coils. These thicker coils provide most of the mattress's support and prevent you from sinking too far in.
Mattress Cover
The Saatva mattress cover and the top foam layer are sewn together, so they work together as one layer. Its top cover is white with gold trim and features the brand name in gold script. It's made from organic cotton and sewn onto the mattress like a traditional cover, so it can't be removed or washed. This means you'll need to spot-clean any spills or stains.
Mattress Testing
To ensure our mattress reviews are thorough and trustworthy, we buy the products ourselves and have them tested by independent licensed engineers (commissioned by us) with no stake in the results.
These third-party engineers apply a consistent testing process to every mattress using a detailed framework. Every mattress is tested the same way, whether it's foam or hybrid. Because these types perform differently, we rate them on separate scales to ensure the scores are fair and meaningful.
We believe independent testing is essential to producing reliable and meaningful comparisons. That's why all test results are reviewed and signed off by an APEGA-certified engineer, operating under a strict code of ethics.
We use the testing results and over 40 criteria to build our scoring methodology.
Tests and reviews without this level of professional oversight may be more prone to errors and unintended bias.

Delivery & Other Policies
Saatva Classic is only sold within the United States. The company used to ship to Canada, but that stopped during the pandemic due to supply chain challenges. If you're in Canada and still want to buy this mattress, you'd need to use a third-party courier service to get it across the border; that's what we did for this review.
For its US customers, Saatva includes a 365-night sleep trial. If you decide the mattress isn't right for you, they'll pick it up and issue a refund, minus a $99 USD processing fee. Returned mattresses are typically donated or repurposed by the company.
Saatva also offers a lifetime warranty that covers manufacturing defects. If something goes wrong within the first two years, they'll send you a replacement. From years 3 to 15, they offer repairs or reconditioning for a $149 USD fee. After year 15, the details aren't clearly outlined.
According to a Saatva Agent, the sleep trial policy doesn't apply in Canada. To even be considered for a return, you'll have to cover the cost of shipping the mattress back to a specific location in the United States, and then Saatva will go pick it up from there to process the return. You'll still need to pay the $99 USD processing fee. This applies to replacement and warranties, too.
If you're looking for a mattress with a sleep trial for Canadians, consider a brand like Logan & Cove. Its mattresses come with a 365-night trial and a 15-year warranty, and ship for free to most locations in Canada.
Company Overview
Saatva is a U.S.-based mattress company that launched in 2010. The name "Saatva" comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "purity" or "goodness." The company grew its reputation by selling mattresses directly to consumers, particularly between 2019 and 2021. In November 2023, Saatva was acquired by Bedding Industries of America, a well-known mattress manufacturer.
Customer Reviews & Feedback
Third-party review sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Trustpilot collect and publish customer feedback about companies and their products, and aren't controlled by the companies being reviewed. They offer a snapshot of overall customer satisfaction and highlight common issues shoppers might face. Checking ratings on sites like these can be a useful way for customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Saatva holds an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau and is rated "Excellent" on Trustpilot. These are both great scores, and might give customers a good idea of what their experience will be like.
Should You Buy The Saatva?
Saatva Classic
Queen
$3,001
Saatva Classic is a traditional innerspring mattress with solid edge support and decent motion isolation. That said, it's priced higher than many Canadian options, doesn't ship directly to Canada, and doesn't include cooling features. You might consider Saatva if you want:
- A U.S.-made innerspring mattress with a dual-coil system
- The option to choose between three firmness levels
- White-glove delivery (within the U.S. only)
If you're looking for a more accessible option with similar support and availability in Canada, Logan & Cove Choice might be a better fit. It's priced at just $999 for a queen-size, and it earned higher cooling feature and edge support scores. Logan & Cove also includes a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty. You also get a free bedding bundle with a mattress purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Saatva mattresses good?
Third-party testing we commissioned shows that Saatva offers good edge support and motion isolation. But it costs around $3,001 CAD for a queen-size mattress and doesn't include extras like cooling or zoned support. Plus, it's harder to buy in Canada since Saatva no longer ships directly here.
If you want something easier to get in Canada, Logan & Cove Choice is a Canadian-made hybrid mattress worth considering. It has cooling features and zoned support with over 1,100 pocketed coils. It also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and free shipping and returns across Canada.
Where can you buy Saatva mattresses in Canada?
Saatva no longer ships mattresses to Canada. According to their official customer support page, this decision was made due to supply chain challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, and they do not plan to resume Canadian operations in the foreseeable future.
While Saatva doesn't offer direct shipping to Canada, you might find their mattresses available through third-party resellers or local marketplaces. However, purchasing through these channels may not include the standard sleep trial, warranty, or customer support that Saatva provides to U.S. customers.
If you want a mattress with similar features that's easier to access in Canada, there are Canadian-made options like Logan & Cove Choice, which include cooling, zoned support, a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and free returns.
Does the Saatva mattress come in a box?
No, Saatva mattresses don't come in a box. Unlike most direct-to-consumer brands, Saatva ships its mattresses full-size and flat. The mattress arrives wrapped in plastic, without additional packaging or a protective box. Depending on the courier and travel distance, this type of delivery could leave the mattress more exposed during transit. In our case, the mattress arrived with a small tear in the bottom fabric.
Where are Saatva mattresses manufactured?
Saatva manufactures its mattresses in the United States.
What's the Saatva mattress warranty?
Saatva offers a lifetime warranty on its mattresses. For the first two years, they'll replace a mattress for free if there's a defect. After that, you'll have to cover part of the cost for repairs or replacements, and the longer you've had the mattress, the more you'll pay. After 15 years, it's not very clear what's still covered.
One thing to keep in mind is that Saatva no longer sells mattresses in Canada. Despite this, according to the Saatva website, their warranty applies across all of Canada.
Can you return a Saatva mattress?
Yes. If you live in the United States, Saatva gives you 365 nights to try the mattress at home. If it's not working for you, just call them to start a return. They'll pick it up and refund your money, but they do charge a $99 USD fee.
If you're in Canada, returns might be a bit tricky. Saatva isn't currently shipping here, and so they don't coordinate returns from Canada. You will need to cover the cost of shipping it to the United States to a location of your choice, and then Saatva will coordinate the return from there.
If you're looking for something with a more straightforward return process in Canada, Logan & Cove Choice handles returns directly within Canada. If you decide the mattress isn't for you, pickup and refunds are available nationwide with no extra fees to worry about.
What Saatva Classic mattress alternatives should I consider?
We recommend Logan & Cove Choice. If you're after strong edge support, motion isolation, and great value. It's priced at $999 for a queen-size. It has cooling features like a nanofibre-infused cover, open-cell Elastex® foam, and breathable pocket coils. It also comes with a free bedding bundle, a 15-year warranty, and a 365-night sleep trial with full refunds, free returns, and free pickups.

All the content on our site, from product reviews to comparisons, is intended to provide general information to help guide your mattress search. We work with independent third-party engineers to test all mattress products we purchase, and we use the test results alongside public data to inform our reviews and comparisons.
The product details in each review reflect how the mattress performed at the time we purchased and tested it, as shown by the "Published" date.
Since brands can update their materials, pricing, or availability over time, we also note when the product was originally purchased, either directly in the article or on our disclaimer page, to maintain clarity and transparency.
If you see an "Updated" tag on a page with a more recent date than the published date, it simply means we've made editorial changes. It does not necessarily indicate any update to the mattress or its test data.
Finally, unless otherwise stated, any mention of where a mattress is made refers specifically to the product we received and tested.
