Novaform is priced lower than some other competitor options at $699 for a queen-size. But if you want to buy a Novaform mattress, you'll need a Costco membership to buy it. You'll get a 20-year limited warranty with your mattress, plus the option to return it for free and for a full refund through Costco's standard return policy. The mattress doesn't come with a dedicated sleep trial, and Costco will only pick up returned mattresses purchased online, not ones bought in-store.

Mattress Construction

Both Douglas and Novaform use a three-layer foam construction. Douglas measures 10" tall, while Novaform is noticeably taller at 14" tall.

Douglas Original

• 1st Layer: 2" ecoLight® cooling gel foam to offer a memory-foam-like feel, which provides body-contouring comfort and pressure relief. The cooling gel infusion also makes this layer breathable and cool to the touch.
• 2nd Layer: 2" Elastex® transition foam, which adds a level of bounciness and responsiveness similar to latex, while being latex-free.
• 3rd Layer: 6" of motion-isolation support foam that provides support, stability, and significantly reduces motion transfer across the mattress. This high-density base helps to minimize disturbances from movements on the other side of the bed, which is one reason why all Douglas mattresses are known for their great motion isolation.

The Douglas Original has a white, mountainscape cover with a bold red zipper along the side. The top cover is removable and machine washable, which makes it easy to keep clean. It's made with Infinitex™ fibres to wick away moisture and help keep the surface cool and breathable. The stretch-knit fabric feels soft to the touch and is very durable.

Novaform ComfortGrande Plus Advanced

• 1st Layer: 3" of EVENcor GelPlus™ memory foam designed to relieve pressure and wick away heat for a cooler sleep surface.
• 2nd Layer: 3" of transition foam adds support between the soft comfort layer and the firm base, helping reduce motion transfer and improve stability.
• 3rd Layer: 8" of high-density base foam provides support and durability to the overall mattress structure.

The Novaform mattress has a quilted, textured white cover with a soft feel and a subtle wave pattern. Its navy blue sidewalls and matching accents give it a clean, modern look. The cover isn't removable or machine-washable, so you'll need to spot-clean it if there's a spill. It's infused with antimicrobial protection and feels cool to the touch. There are sturdy handles on the sidewalls that make it easier to move the mattress around.

Mattress Performance

In third-party engineer testing that we commissioned, the Douglas Original landed in the medium-firm range. Novaform, by comparison, tested in the medium range. Douglas also scored higher for edge support, which adds stability if you sit or sleep near the side of the bed.

Both mattresses performed well in cooling tests. They also have moisture-wicking covers, breathable foam layers, and cooling gel foam layers that all work together to help regulate temperature while you sleep.

Where Douglas Differs:

• Douglas scored 3.1/10 for bounce, which is higher than Novaform, but still below-average for a foam mattress. Bounce measures how quickly the mattress returns to its original shape after you sit or lie down or apply pressure on it. If a mattress has a lot of bounce, it's easier to switch positions.
• Douglas has more motion isolation features than Novaform and earned a score of 8.3/10. Good motion isolation means one person can move on their side of the bed without disturbing their partner. This is especially helpful for light sleepers, couples, or anyone who shares their bed.

Where Novaform Differs:

• The Novaform has is softer, scoring considerably lower than Douglas at 5.3/10 for firmness. This might not be ideal if you're a back sleeper or a stomach sleeper, or if you tend to change sleep positions a lot.
