Best Overall: Douglas

Who It’s Best For
Sleepers who want a high-quality foam mattress at a great price
Sleepers who want a mattress made with sustainable materials
Sleepers looking for a medium-firm mattress with consistent support
Sleepers looking for a mattress with superior motion-isolation
Combination sleepers
Key Features
Cooling gel foam
10-inch height
Eco-conscious design
Machine-washable cover
Above-average motion isolation
365-night sleep trial
15-year warranty
Why It’s Best
A combination of quality construction and materials, performance, affordable prices, a lengthy sleep trial and warranty propel Douglas to win Best Canadian Online Mattress.
The Douglas mattress contains Luxury ecoLight® Cooling Gel Foam, Premium Elastex® Foam, and Motion-Isolation Support Foam. Douglas’ proprietary cooling gel foam is lighter and less carbon-intensive than conventional memory foams (as tested to ASTM D3574-I3 Procedure C, against 4lb memory foam). In addition to having a smaller carbon footprint, the cooling gel won’t retain heat and circulates air much more freely than some of Douglas’ top competitors.
The plant-derived CoolSense® cover is made from sustainable Infinitex™ fibres that draw moisture away from the surface. The cover’s natural breathability also helps to improve air circulation throughout the mattress layers.
Packed with features like cooling gel foam, industry leading motion isolation, and above-average edge support, Douglas easily sets itself a part from its competitors. Douglas also has the longest sleep trial of all Canadian online mattresses at 365 nights. To top it off, its medium-firm feel suits for most sleep styles and body types.

A been a number of hybrid bed-in-a-box mattress brands that have entered the Canadian market over the past few years. However, the Logan & Cove is loaded with luxurious features that competitors Silk & Snow, Hamuq, and Haven don’t have.
The Logan & Cove is made out of five layers. The pillow-top and mattress layers are constructed with a silk-blend fill, cooling gel foam, and soy-infused bio-foam. Each Logan & Cove mattress has 8-inch zoned pocket coils to provide extra lower-back support. It is also constructed with a perimeter foam encasement for additional edge support. Finally, the mattress cover is a Tencel®, polyester and spandex blend.
Available in two distinct firmness options, the Logan & Cove mattress will suit many different types of sleepers. Combination sleepers

Cooling gel foam
8-inch height

Why It’s Best
In the ultra-competitive value market segment, it is surprising to find a mattress that ticks off as many boxes as Juno. Packed with features like cooling gel foam and above-average motion isolation, Juno easily sets itself apart from its competitors. Juno is easily our pick for Best Value Mattress.
The Juno mattress contains two layers of foam that work together to provide comfort and support. The first layer is 2-inches of full-body cooling gel foam and the second layer is 6-inches of total support foam.
Finally, the mattress is wrapped in a polyester and viscose soft blend mattress cover. The breathable and ultra-soft cover was designed to be a homage to the iconic striped wool socks Canadians have worn for generations.
Unlike other value mattresses, Juno mattresses are truly made in Canada with Canadian materials. Its medium-firm feel works for most sleep styles and body types.

Sleepers looking for pressure point relief
Combination sleepers
Key Features
High-density foam
11-inch height

15-year warranty
Why It’s Best
Novosbed is a pioneer in the bed-in-a-box industry and launched their first mattress back in 2009. In its price category, Novosbed continues to be a standout in terms of quality, construction, comfort, and value, making it a clear choice for Best Premium Memory Mattress. Novosbed prices begin at $999 CAD, which is a fraction of the cost of similar store-bought mattresses, including many Tempur-Pedic ($2,499+).
All three Novosbed firmness options are made with four layers of high-density memory foam. Depending on the model, the comfort and transition layers of the mattress vary between high-density gel-infused memory foam, premium airflow foam, and open-cell pneumatic memory foam. All models come equipped with premium support foam and are wrapped in a machine-washable cover. The cover is a polyester and Tencel® fabric blend.
Made with high-density memory foam and other high-grade materials, Novosbed’s quality construction provides customers with a high-end sleep experience. With three firmness options to choose from and adjustable firmness, Novosbed also allows sleepers to have a tailored mattress to suit their needs.
Customers who find that the firmness of their Novosbed isn’t quite right after the first 30 nights can request a free Comfort+ kit as part of the 120-night sleep trial. Comfort+ is a firmness adjustment kit that allows customers to integrate a 2-inch topper into the cover of the mattress. Novosbed is the only mattress company to offer this feature as part of the sleep trial.
Hybrid Mattress Alternative: Hamuq

Who Might Consider Hamuq
Sleepers who want a firmer mattress
Sleepers who want a hybrid mattress delivered in a box
Sleepers looking for a mattress under $1,500
Key Features
Gel foam
13-inch height
Spring-and-foam combination
120-night sleep trial
15-year warranty
About Hamuq
Launched in 2016, the Hamuq mattress is a Canadian hybrid mattresses delivered in a box. Priced at $1,050 CAD for a queen-size mattress, Hamuq falls within the mid-market price point.
Although the Hamuq mattress comes in at an attractive price, offers a 120-night sleep trial, and a 15-year warranty, it lacks many of the features that its competitors have like zoned support and cooling gel foam.
The Hamuq mattress is made with six layers. The pillow-top is features a polyester fill and comfort foam. From there, the comfort layers are comprised of Cloud Tech™ Soft foam and Cloud Tech™ Comfort foam. The transition layer is comprised of TRS Adaptive Gel™ foam. The support layers are made with 8-inch pocketed coils and bio-foam. Finally, the mattress is wrapped with a spot-clean only cotton, felt, and polyester cover.
The Hamuq mattress does not have reinforced coils in the central third of the mattress where the most body weight concentrates. Typically, this style of mattress is more susceptible to sagging over time than mattresses with a zoned coil layout.
It also has significantly less customer reviews than you would expect from a mattress that has been on the market since 2016. The Hamuq mattress has less than 2,000 customer reviews. In contrast, the Logan & Cove mattress has nearly 5,000 customer reviews.
Sleepers looking for a Canadian-made hybrid mattress at a mid-market price could be attracted to Hamuq.
Memory Foam Mattress Alternative: Silk & Snow

Who Might Consider Silk & Snow
Sleepers who want a softer mattress
Sleepers who want an antimicrobial fabric cover
Sleepers looking for a plush and contouring top layer
Key Features
Gel memory foam
10-inch height
Machine-washable cover
100-night sleep trial
15-year warranty
About Silk & Snow
Silk & Snow launched in 2017 with a single-firmness memory foam mattress. Despite outward appearances, Silk & Snow’s signature foam mattress is a considerable departure from most bed-in-box brands in North America. While market leaders like Douglas and Endy attempt to appeal to the largest demographic of sleepers with medium to medium-firm mattresses, Silk & Snow caters to the mattress shopper who craves something softer.
The Silk & Snow memory foam mattress has a three layer design, giving it a height of 10-inches. The first layer is high-density gel memory foam, the second is transition foam, and the final layer is support foam. The machine-washable cover is made of polyester and cotton.
Soft mattresses are generally preferred by lightweight sleepers and shoppers looking for a sleep surface with extra sinkage and ‘hug.’ While Silk & Snow may sink too much in the middle for many people, anyone who loves a soft and enveloping mattress should take a closer look at Silk & Snow.
Foam Mattress Alternative: Endy

Who Might Consider Endy
Sleepers who sleep on their back and/or stomach
Sleepers who want an all-foam mattress
Sleepers looking for a mattress with some ‘hug’
Key Features
Endy comfort foam
10-inch height
Machine-washable cover
100-night sleep trial
15-year warranty
About Endy
Endy is a bed-in-a-box mattress owned by Sleep Country, the largest chain of retail mattress stores in Canada. Endy has gained recognition due to its many paid partnerships with social media influencers and lifestyle bloggers. However, genuine reviews from actual customers tell a different story than the brands paid partnerships. Customers only rate Endy as “Average” on Trustpilot and the brand is unaccredited on the Better Business Bureau.
The Endy mattress has a three layer design giving the mattress a height of 10-inches. The first layer is Endy comfort foam. The second and final layer of the mattress are both polyurethane foam. The machine-washable cover is made of polyester and lycra.
Despite the top layer of the Endy mattress having significant ‘hug’, it is quite firm. Back and stomach sleepers might find this mattress more comfortable than side sleepers who rely on a little bit of extra sinkage to help with spinal alignment or prevent the buildup of pressure points around the shoulders, hips, and other joints.
Foam Mattress with Enhanced Edge Support: Polysleep

Who Might Consider Polysleep
Sleepers who want a mattress made in Quebec
Sleepers who want a medium firmness
Sleepers who don’t care about return fees

Liquid-repellent cover
10-inch height
Good edge support
100-night sleep trial
10-year warranty
About Polysleep
Polysleep is a Montreal-based bed-in-a-box company that offers three variations of its hybrid memory foam mattress. The Polysleep mattress is priced at $1,199 for a queen, positioning it slightly outside the mid-market price range.
Like many online mattress brands, Polysleep offers a 100-night sleep trial. But unlike many of its competitors, they charge an $85 return fee. In contrast, Douglas provides a customers a full refund and offers a longer sleep trial at 365 nights.
The Polysleep mattress has a three layer design with a height of 10-inches. The first layer is ventilated hybrid memory foam, the second is soft support foam, and the final layer is base foam. The mattress cover is made of polyester and polyviscose, but it is not machine washable.
