Hamuq and Logan & Cove are two of the top hybrid mattress brands in Canada, and both companies have built up a loyal Canadian customer base. So, what are the backgrounds of these two innovative companies?
When the Ontario-based Hamuq first launched in 2016, it became one of the only Canadian-made mattresses available to order online with springs, foam, and a pillow-top. The company has since expanded their product assortment to include a complete suite of bedding, including sheets, pillows, and duvets.
After nearly a full decade of research by GoodMorning.com, the Logan & Cove mattress was released in early 2018. It quickly grew to become one of the best-selling boxed hybrid mattresses in Canada, even outpacing some brands that had helped define the segment. The combination of premium materials with luxury styling is still seen as an attractive alternative to similar retail store models which sell for up to a few thousand dollars more.

Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
Hamuq and Logan & Cove both use FedEx to deliver their mattresses to customers across the country. In some cases, the packages can even be left on a porch or deck while the customer is away from home.
As with any bed-in-a-box brand, Hamuq and Logan & Cove heavily promote their in-home sleep trials. Both Logan & Cove and Hamuq come with a 120-night sleep trial.
If a customer wishes to return their Hamuq or Logan & Cove within the sleep trial, both mattress companies will arrange to pick up their mattress and issue a full refund. There are no additional return or restocking fees for either product.

Both the Hamuq and Logan & Cove mattresses were delivered to us within the estimated time frames. Both were well-protected by heavy-duty plastic layers within the boxes to keep the mattresses in good condition during shipping.
The Hamuq mattress and Logan & Cove mattress boxes were both sealed with heavy-duty tape. Customers will definitely need scissors or a knife to open the box. To avoid harm to the mattress, remember to be extra careful when using sharp objects to opening the packaging.
Once opened, the compressed mattresses are easy to remove from the box. We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide each mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to set up the bed.
The Hamuq and Logan & Cove are both protected with multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic. Customers will need to unwrap the outer layers to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find and peel back the outer layer of plastic. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long. After completing this process, the mattress will be lying unrolled before you.
Next, cut the final layer of plastic and the new Hamuq mattress or Logan & Cove mattress will begin to decompress. Remove this final layer of plastic and the mattress should expand to its full height within a few seconds. Both the Hamuq and Logan & Cove expanded to their full heights within 2 minutes.

Hamuq and Logan & Cove are both hybrid mattresses. Hamuq is available in only one firmness option, while Logan & Cove is has two firmness options to choose from. Each mattress is compressed, rolled and shipped in a box.
Some of the major differences between the Hamuq and Logan & Cove are the different types of foam used for comfort, contouring, and pressure point relief, as well as the springs used for support. Each mattress contains comfort, transition, and support layers, and these layers vary slightly in height and density.
Also, both mattresses have a unique top cover which showcases each brand’s mattress design. Top covers are sometimes washable, but neither the Hamuq mattress or Logan & Cove mattress has a machine-washable top cover.
Logan & Cove is proudly made with foams, coils, and fabrics sourced from Canadian manufacturers.
Hamuq vs Logan & Cove Mattress Layers
Hamuq

Logan & Cove

Hamuq Mattress Layers
The Hamuq mattress contains six layers of springs and foam. Like many of the hybrid mattresses on the market today, all layers in the Hamuq mattress work together to provide an overall level of comfort and support.- Cover fill: Polyester fill. This lightweight fill pads the tufted cover and contributes to the softness of the pillow-top.
- First layer: 0.75 inches of comfort foam. The first of four thin layers of foam that contribute to the unique feel of the mattress.
- Second layer: 1 inch of Cloud Tech™ Soft foam. This layer provides additional softness to the upper portion of the mattress for pressure-point relief.
- Third layer: 1 inch of Cloud Tech™ Comfort foam. An additional layer of foam to enable an overall balance of comfort and support.
- Fourth layer: 0.5 inches of TRS Adaptive Gel™ foam. While other mattresses like Brunswick and Logan & Cove use reinforced pocketed coils in the central third of the mattress to provide extra support beneath the hips, Hamuq incorporates a half-inch layer of zonal foam to firm up the middle of the bed. This layer also contains cooling gel to assist with heat dissipation at the intersection of the foam and coil layers.
- Fifth layer: 8 inches of pocketed coils. Hamuq’s individually wrapped coils make up the main support layer of the mattress, as well as helping to reduce motion transfer.
- Sixth layer: 0.5 inches of biofoam. This thin layer soy and polyurethane at the very bottom of the mattress provides the final layer of support and shock absorption between the mattress and the bed frame.
Logan & Cove Mattress Layers
Both versions of the Logan & Cove mattress are made with the same five layers:
- Cover fill: Silk-blend pillow-top fill. The lightweight fill resting immediately beneath the cover is soft to the touch, antimicrobial, heat-regulating, and breathable.
- First layer: 0.75 inches of high-density cooling gel foam. The first of two consecutive cooling layers is primarily designed to offer immediate cushioning and a hint of body contouring.
- Second layer: 1 inch of cooling gel memory foam. This responsive material helps with cushioning and heat regulation around the sleeping surface.
- Third layer: 1 inch of soy-infused bio foam. This layer provides body contouring and pressure-point relief in the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.
- Fourth layer: 2 inches of soy-infused eco foam. This thicker layer of foam is the main transition layer between the pillow-top and the bottom support layer, helping to balance both the cushioning and supportive properties of the mattress. It also further establishes the overall body contouring and pressure-relieving properties.
- Fifth layer: 8 inches of individually pocketed coils. The pocketed coils are made from multi-tempered recycled steel. They provide robust support and motion isolation across the entire sleep surface. In the central third of the bed (under the hips), Logan & Cove uses a thicker gauge of steel in order to prevent the hips from sinking down too far. This arrangement helps to promote spinal alignment and reduce pressure points. Logan & Cove has one of the thickest centre thirds of any coil-based mattress.
Of note: The full perimeter of the mattress is encased with 4 inches of rigid support foam to allow you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed. Polyfiber layers above and below the pocketed coils make up the remaining 0.75 inches of Logan & Cove’s 14-inch vertical profile.
Though the two firmness models use all of the same primary layers, the differences in density and force deflection ratings between the foam layers results in the overall differences in feel and firmness between the two mattresses.
Hamuq vs Logan & Cove Mattress Cover
Hamuq

Logan & Cove

Hamuq Mattress Cover
The top cover of the Hamuq mattress is a blend of cotton and felt, white and soft to touch. With a traditional ‘tack-and-jump’ style design often found on hybrid mattresses, the Hamuq cover is simple yet pleasing to the eye. The Hamuq top cover is not machine washable and can be cleaned only through spot cleaning.
Logan & Cove Mattress Cover
Logan & Cove's impressive quilting is full of intricate details, ones normally reserved for higher price segments. The design uses diamond-tufting, accent stitching, glossy fabrics, and other elegant touches to make a mattress you can't help but want to run your hands across.
To keep you cool and comfortable through the night, the white quilting is heavily infused with Tencel®. Tencel is widely known for its breathability and moisture-wicking qualities. Altogether, this level of luxury styling is all but unheard of in the mattress-in-a-box category, and especially at Logan & Cove's pricepoint.Hamuq vs Logan & Cove: Environmental Sustainability
