Hush and Logan & Cove are two of the most well-known sleep brands in Canada, and both brands have built up a loyal Canadian customer base. So, what are the backgrounds behind Hush and Logan & Cove?
Hush
Years before they ever sold their first mattress, the Hush Blankets company rose to prominence by selling weighted blankets. Their popular blanket was well-positioned in 2017 to ride the weighted blanket trend, quickly becoming one of the most popular weighted blankets on the market. Appearances on CBC’s Dragon’s Den and writeups in the Toronto Star helped to capture the attention of Sleep Country, who purchased a majority share of the company in 2021.
In August 2021, the blanket company expanded their product collection by introducing the first Hush mattress.
Logan & Cove
After nearly a full decade of research by GoodMorning.com, the Logan & Cove mattress was released in early 2018. It quickly grew to become one of the best-selling boxed hybrid mattresses in Canada, even outpacing some brands that had helped define the segment. The combination of premium materials with luxury styling is still seen as an attractive alternative to similar retail store models which sell for up to a few thousand dollars more.

With the rise in popularity of the ‘bed-in-a-box’, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than traditional mattresses. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery as boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some ‘bed-in-a-box’ companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
Hush and Logan & Cove both use FedEx to deliver their mattresses to across Canada. Both mattresses will be delivered directly to customers’ doors throughout most parts of the country. In some cases, the mattresses can even be left on a porch or deck while the customer is at work.
Shipping times for the Hush mattress and the Logan & Cove are similar. Both mattresses will be delivered within 10 business days.
Hush and Logan & Cove heavily promote their in-home sleep trials. Logan & Cove has the longest sleep trial of the two mattress brands with a 120-night sleep trial. Hush offers a 100-night sleep trial.
If a customer wishes to return their Hush or Logan & Cove mattress within the sleep trial, both companies will arrange to pick the mattresses up and issue a full refund. There are no additional return or restocking fees for either of the mattresses.

The Hush and Logan & Cove mattresses were both delivered to us within the expected delivery time. Both mattresses were well-protected by heavy-duty plastic layers within the boxes to protect the mattresses during shipping.
Once the boxes are unsealed, the compressed mattresses are easy to remove from the box. We recommend a simple ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to save strain when unboxing each mattress. Simply tip the box from a vertical position into a horizontal position and pull the mattress out of the box. To make things even easier, do this process in whatever room you intend to use the mattress.
The Hush and Logan & Cove are both protected with multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic. Unwrap the first layer of plastic to change the mattress from its cylindrical, rolled shape into a flat, compressed form.
Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled mattress on the designated bed frame, find the end of the outer layer plastic, pull it loose, and use the resulting momentum to roll the mattress into position on the frame. Once in position, remove the outer plastic layer.
After completing this process, simply unroll the mattress, making sure the top cover is facing up. Place the corners in the correct position on the bed frame.
Next, cut the final layer of plastic and the new mattress will start decompressing. Remove this final layer of plastic and the mattress should expand to its full height within a few minutes. Both mattresses took under five minutes to expand to their intended heights.

The Hush Arctic Luxe and Logan & Cove are both hybrid mattresses, and each has a number of similarities. While Hush offers only one firmness option, Logan & Cove is available in two distinct firmnesses.
Another major difference between the Hush mattress and Logan & Cove mattress is the foam used for comfort, contouring, and pressure point relief, as well as the support layers for motion isolation and edge support. Each mattress contains comfort, transition, and support layers, and these layers vary slightly in height and density.
On the outside, both mattresses have a unique top cover that showcases the brand’s mattress design. Neither mattress has a machine-washable top cover.
Both mattresses are proudly made with foams, coils, and fabric sourced from Canadian manufacturers.
Hush vs Logan & Cove Mattress Layers

Logan & Cove

Hush Mattress Layers
The Hush mattress is made up of five separate layers, combining different types of foam and metal coils to create the mattress’ unique feel and firmness. Though Hush does not publicly list all of its layer details, this information is available upon request.
- First layer: 0.75″ Super Soft polyurethane foam with gel. Sewn into the pillow-top beneath some fibre fill, this top layer provides a cushiony landing, along with some cooling properties. Foam density: Unspecified.
- Second layer: 1 inch of gel memory foam. This layer helps create a contouring effect, providing some “hug” and additional heat dissipation. Foam density: Unspecified.
- Third layer: 1 inch of polyurethane foam. This final layer of the pillow-top serves as a supportive base for the two layers above. Foam density: Unspecified.
- Fourth layer: 1 inch of polyurethane foam. This additional layer of polyurethane actions as a transition zone between the pillow-top above and the steel coils below. Foam density: Unspecified.
- Fifth layer: 8 inches of zoned pocketed coils. This bottom support layer is divided into three zones to assist with spinal alignment. The coils flex independently, helping to minimize motion transfer. This bottom layer is surrounded by a four-inch wall of edge support foam.
Of Note: Hush claims that their mattress includes phase-change material, a thin graphite layer, and “food-grade soy byproduct materials”; however, they do not disclose where in the mattress these materials reside.
Logan & Cove Mattress Layers
Both versions of the Logan & Cove mattress are made with the same five layers:
- Cover fill: Silk-blend pillow-top fill. The lightweight fill resting immediately beneath the cover is soft to the touch, antimicrobial, heat-regulating, and breathable.
- First layer: 0.75 inches of high-density cooling gel foam. The first of two consecutive cooling layers is primarily designed to offer immediate cushioning and a hint of body contouring.
- Second layer: 1 inch of cooling gel memory foam. This responsive material helps with cushioning and heat regulation around the sleeping surface.
- Third layer: 1 inch of soy-infused bio foam. This layer provides body contouring and pressure-point relief in the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.
- Fourth layer: 2 inches of soy-infused eco foam. This thicker layer of foam is the main transition layer between the pillow-top and the bottom support layer, helping to balance both the cushioning and supportive properties of the mattress. It also further establishes the overall body contouring and pressure-relieving properties.
- Fifth layer: 8 inches of individually pocketed coils. The pocketed coils are made from multi-tempered recycled steel. They provide robust support and motion isolation across the entire sleep surface. In the central third of the bed (under the hips), Logan & Cove uses a thicker gauge of steel in order to prevent the hips from sinking down too far. This arrangement helps to promote spinal alignment and reduce pressure points. Logan & Cove has one of the thickest centre thirds of any coil-based mattress.
Of note: The full perimeter of the mattress is encased with 4 inches of rigid support foam to allow you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed. Polyfiber layers above and below the pocketed coils make up the remaining 0.75 inches of Logan & Cove’s 14-inch vertical profile.
Though the two firmness models use all of the same primary layers, the differences in density and force deflection ratings between the foam layers results in the overall differences in feel and firmness between the two mattresses.
Hush vs Logan & Cove Mattress Cover
Hush

Hush Mattress Cover
The quilted top cover of the Hush Arctic Luxe Hybrid mattress is made from petroleum-based polyethylene, with 1% spandex for stretch. This white polymer fabric is further infused with a cooling agent to make it feel cool to the touch. The quilting and button-tufting advertise the softness of the sleep surface.
The sidewalls are covered in black upholstery with accent stitching. Fabric handles are sewn into the sides of the cover to assist with rotating the mattress and adjusting it into place on the bed frame.
Please note that the cover of the Hush mattress is not removeable. The company recommends spot-cleaning the mattress with a solution of baking soda and vinegar, being careful not to use detergent as that may harm the cooling properties of the cover.
Logan & Cove Mattress Cover
Logan & Cove's impressive quilting is full of intricate details, ones normally reserved for higher price segments. The design uses diamond-tufting, accent stitching, glossy fabrics, and other elegant touches to make a mattress you can't help but want to run your hands across.
To keep you cool and comfortable through the night, the white quilting is heavily infused with Tencel®. Tencel is widely known for its breathability and moisture-wicking qualities. Altogether, this level of luxury styling is all but unheard of in the mattress-in-a-box category, and especially at Logan & Cove's pricepoint.Similar to Hush, the Logan & Cove cover is spot-clean only.
