Official Test Results: How Do Engineers Rate These Mattresses?
Logan & Cove mattress version was updated on May 31, 2023. The following review is of the previous version. We will update our review shortly with new test results.
As with all mattress reviews and comparisons on Mattress-Reviews.com, GoodMorning.com Inc. tests major online mattress brands to continually update and improve its own products. Analyzing the builds, brands, and specifications of competitor mattresses ensures GoodMorning.com always offers the best possible value to its customers.
To provide a consistent benchmark for our tests, we commission third-party engineers to test every mattress in the exact same way. You can view the methodology of testing and the APEGA-stamped results document here.

Feel & Firmness
Every sleeper experiences mattress firmness differently. Your sleep style, body type, and comfort preferences will determine which mattress is best for you.
Logan & Cove offers two firmness options for customers to choose from, while Simba is available in a single firmness.
- The Simba 2500 is rated 3.2 / 10, making it a medium-soft mattress. The memory foam top layer has a significant amount of ‘hug,’ which will appeal to anyone looking for a soft, enveloping mattress that they can sink into. However, strict stomach or back sleepers may find that Simba is too soft to feel properly supported.
- At 6.3 / 10, the Logan & Cove Medium Plush is considered a medium-firm mattress. The Medium Plush option provides nice pressure relief, especially at the shoulders and hips. Side sleepers should find that they get a good balance of support and cushioning on this mattress.
- With a firmness rating of 7.7 / 10, the Logan & Cove Luxury Firm is considered a firm mattress. Most sleepers will experience very minimal sinkage on this mattress, making it ideal for stomach sleepers, who often require a bit more support to maintain proper spinal alignment throughout the night.

Edge Support
If you want a bed with good edge support, hybrid mattresses are often a safe choice, especially when compared to an all-foam design. The added stability from the spring support layer can help minimize compression and sinkage at the side or foot of the bed.
- The Simba 2500 has above-average edge support. It is rated at 8.0 / 10 on the edge support scale. If you require a bed with strong edge support, this could be a great option.
- The Logan & Cove Medium Plush mattress has average edge support. It is rated at 4.4 / 10 on the edge support scale.
- At 8.0 / 10 on the edge support scale, the Logan & Cove Luxury Firm also has above average edge support. If you require a bed with strong edge support, this could be a great option.

Motion Isolation
If you share your bed with a partner or pets, choosing a mattress with a high motion isolation score can significantly reduce sleep disturbances caused by movement. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), motion isolation scores for the Simba 2500 and both Logan & Cove models are above average. If you are a delicate sleeper or sensitive to your partner tossing and turning throughout the night, any of these mattresses should help minimize motion transfer.
- The Simba 2500 has above-average motion isolation. It is rated at 6.6 / 10 on the motion isolation scale.
- The Logan & Cove Medium Plush mattress has above-average motion isolation. It is rated at 7.0 / 10 on the motion isolation scale.
- The Logan & Cove Luxury Firm mattress has above-average motion isolation. It is rated at 6.9 / 10 on the motion isolation scale.

Bounce
Anyone wanting a springy sleep surface will enjoy the added bounce you get on a hybrid mattress. Mattresses with interior springs are known for having a bit more bounce, especially when compared to all-foam models. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the bounce ratings for the Simba and Logan & Cove mattresses vary:
- The Simba 2500 mattress has average bounce, earning a 4.4 / 10 rating.
- The Logan & Cove Medium Plush mattress has below-average bounce, earning a 3.2 / 10 rating. If you want the benefits of a hybrid mattress (cushioning top layer, edge support, firmer feel, good motion isolation), but don’t love an overly bouncy sleep surface, the Logan & Cove Medium Plush should give you what you’re looking for.
- The Logan & Cove Luxury Firm mattress has average bounce, earning a 5.4 / 10 rating.

Simba 2500 and Logan & Cove are both hybrids. However, the overall composition of each mattress is rather different. Logan & Cove has a large, 8-inch coil base layer to provide additional support and stability. The 1-inch micro-coils in the Simba mattress are primarily used for contouring and comfort.
Hybrid mattresses are made up of different layers and materials to provide overall support and comfort. Simba is 12″ tall and has four separate layers, while both Logan & Cove firmness options are 14″ in height and have five individual layers.
Logan & Cove has two different firmness options for customers to choose from, Medium Plush and Luxury Firm. The Simba 2500 is available in one firmness option. In Canada, Simba offers two other mattress models through Sleep Country, the lower-priced Simba 1500 and the more expensive Simba 5000.
Logan & Cove is proudly made with foams, coils, and fabrics sourced from Canadian manufacturers.
Mattress Layers
Simba 2500

Logan & Cove

Simba 2500 Mattress Layers
The Simba 2500 contains four layers:
- First layer: 1 inch of graphite-infused memory foam. This layer provides comfort and contouring. Because memory foam tends to trap heat, Simba has added graphite flakes in the foam to help with temperature control. Foam density: Unspecified.
- Second layer: 1 inch of micro-coils. Simba’s coil layer helps with motion isolation. The hollow channels in the springs also aid in temperature regulation by improving airflow throughout the mattress.
- Third layer: 3.5 inches of high-density foam. This layer provides additional stability to the mattress and is reinforced at the perimeter for edge support. Foam density: Unspecified.
- Fourth layer: 6.5 inches of support foam. This bottom layer makes up the foundation of the mattress and keeps you from sinking in too deep. It also includes horizontal air channels that divide the mattress into seven zones, promoting spinal alignment and pressure-point relief. Foam density: Unspecified.
Of note: Simba does not publicly disclose foam density. When Mattress-Reviews.com contacted Simba customer support, they could not provide the foam density for any of their layers.
Logan & Cove Mattress Layers
The Logan & Cove mattress is made up of five layers:
- Cover fill: The lightweight fill resting immediately beneath the cover is soft to the touch, antimicrobial, heat-regulating, and breathable.
- First layer: 0.75 inches of high-density cooling gel foam. The first of two consecutive cooling layers is primarily designed to offer immediate cushioning and a hint of body contouring.
- Second layer: 1 inch of cooling gel memory foam. This responsive material helps with cushioning and heat regulation around the sleeping surface.
- Third layer: 1 inch of soy-infused bio foam. This layer provides body contouring and pressure-point relief in the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.
- Fourth layer: 2 inches of soy-infused eco foam. This thicker layer of foam is the main transition layer between the cover and the bottom support layer, helping to balance both the cushioning and supportive properties of the mattress. It also further establishes the overall body contouring and pressure-relieving properties.
- Fifth layer: 8 inches of individually pocketed coils. The pocketed coils are made from multi-tempered recycled steel. They provide robust support and motion isolation across the entire sleep surface. In the central third of the bed (under the hips), Logan & Cove uses a thicker gauge of steel in order to prevent the hips from sinking down too far. This arrangement helps to promote spinal alignment and reduce pressure points. Logan & Cove has one of the thickest centre thirds of any coil-based mattress.
Of note: The full perimeter of the mattress is encased with 4 inches of rigid support foam to allow you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed. Polyfiber layers above and below the pocketed coils make up the remaining 0.75 inches of Logan & Cove’s 14-inch vertical profile.
Mattress Cover
Simba 2500

Logan & Cove

Simba 2500 Mattress Cover
Simba’s top cover is made primarily of polyester and contains a small amount of elastane for stretch. Synthetic materials tend to be less breathable than natural or plant-derived fibres like Tencel® or cotton.
Simba does not list any eco-conscious fabrics in their outer layer construction. However, Simba promotes the antimicrobial benefits of its top cover. This feature may be important to some shoppers since the Simba mattress cover is not machine washable.
Logan & Cove Mattress Cover
Logan & Cove’s top cover has intricate quilting details that are typically reserved for higher-priced mattresses. The design features diamond-shaped tufting, accent stitching, and hand-finished satin details.
To aid with temperature control and regulation, the white quilting is filled with a plush blend of silk and Tencel®, which is widely known for its breathability and moisture-wicking abilities.
Logan & Cove is the only mattress of the two that incorporates a pillow-top design. Pillow-top mattresses are popular with many shoppers, especially side sleepers because of the added cushioning to prevent painful pressure points at the shoulders and hips.

Simba
Simba is based in Europe and available worldwide. In Canada, Simba is sold through Sleep Country. Because of its exclusive contract with Sleep Country, Simba’s Canadian customer service is managed by the retail chain’s support team.
Though Simba’s parent brand has ties to the textile industry dating as far back as 1979, its tight-top mattress launched the company to prominence. The Simba mattress, as we know it today, launched in the UK in 2016. The European versions of the Simba mattress are made in both the UK and Poland. In 2020, however, the brand moved manufacturing for all its Canadian orders from China to Canada.
Logan & Cove
Logan & Cove is part of GoodMorning.com, Canada’s largest independent online mattress retailer. Since its release in 2018, Logan & Cove has become one of the top-selling boxed hybrid mattresses in Canada, even outpacing some brands that had helped define the segment. The combination of premium materials and luxury detailing is still seen as an attractive alternative to similar retail store models, which often sell for up to a few thousand dollars more.
All Logan & Cove mattresses are made in Canada.

Summary
Hybrid mattresses typically offer a great balance of support and comfort. Like other high-end mattress brands, Simba and Logan & Cove deliver on the promise of an enjoyable sleep experience. Both performed well during the third-party engineer tests for motion isolation and edge support and are a good choice for couples and anyone who requires additional stability at the sides and foot of the bed.
However, despite its higher price point, Simba is missing some of the luxury features you get with Logan & Cove. Customers who choose to purchase a Logan & Cove over Simba will also enjoy the benefits of a silk-blend fill pillow-top, luxury detailing, better edge support, and 2 inches of additional height.
Because of Simba’s soft feel, it would be most suitable for lightweight individuals or anyone looking for an enveloping mattress with lots of ‘hug.’ Because of its high degree of sinkage, Simba may not provide enough support for back or stomach sleepers. On the other hand, Logan & Cove is available in two firmness options, so it should suit a wider range of sleepers.
Logan & Cove’s choice in firmness, additional comfort layers, longer sleep trial, free returns and more affordable price help make it Mattress-Reviews.com’s Top-Rated Hybrid Mattress.
Buy the Simba 2500 if you:
- Prefer a soft mattress with lots of ‘hug’
- Don’t like pillow-top mattresses
- Require strong edge support
- Want a micro-coil hybrid mattress
- Want the option to try the mattress in-store
- Want an antimicrobial top cover
Buy Logan & Cove if you:
- Want a medium-firm mattress with nice cushioning
- Require strong edge support
- Want a luxury mattress for under $1,500
- Need a lengthy sleep trial and warranty
- Want the option to return for a full refund
