Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.

The Serta iComfort mattress was delivered to us in a very reasonable time frame. The Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress used in this review was ordered at a local Sleep Country mattress store on a Thursday afternoon and the mattress was delivered on the following Monday morning.

Mattress retailers often use their own delivery service to deliver Serta iComfort mattresses. The delivery is often ‘white glove’, which means that the mattress is delivered to the room of choice, placed on the bed, the packaging is removed, and the old mattress is taken away.

Shipping time for Serta iComfort and Logan & Cove are the same. Both mattresses will be delivered within 10 days.

Each mattress retailer who stocks and sells Serta iComfort mattresses may or may not offer a sleep trial.

Unlike Serta iComfort, Logan & Cove heavily promotes their in-home sleep trial. Logan & Cove has one of the longest sleep trials of all mattress brands with a 120-night sleep trial. 

Customers in Canada who choose to purchase a Serta iComfort mattress at a retail store may incur restocking fees for returned mattresses, again, this is dependant on the individual retailer’s terms and conditions.

However, if a customer wishes to return their Logan & Cove mattress within the 120-night sleep trial, they will arrange to pick the mattresses up and issue a full refund. There are no additional return or restocking fees for the Logan & Cove mattress.

The Serta iComfort mattress is not delivered in a box. Depending on the retailer, white-glove delivery service is often included in the price of a Serta iComfort mattress.

The Logan & Cove mattress was delivered to us within the expected delivery time. The Logan & Cove mattress is well protected by heavy-duty plastic layers within the box to protect the mattress during shipping.

The Logan & Cove mattress box was sealed with heavy duty tape. Customers will definitely need scissors or a knife to open the box. Remember to be extra careful when opening the box with sharp objects.

Once opened, the compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. A simple ‘tip-and-pull’ motion is what we recommend. Simply tip the box from a vertical position into a horizontal position and pull the mattress out of the box. We recommend doing this process in the designated bedroom.

The Logan & Cove mattress is protected with two layers of heavy-duty plastic and customers will need to unwrap the first layer of plastic in order to change the mattress from a cylindrical shape into a flat, albeit compressed, shape.

Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled mattress on to the designated bed frame, find the end of the outer layer plastic, pull it loose, and use the resulting momentum to roll the mattress into position on the frame. Once in position, remove that outer plastic layer. After completing this process, customers will see an unrolled mattress. Simply place the corners in the correct position on the frame of foundation.

Next, cut the final layer of plastic and the new Logan & Cove mattress will start decompressing. Remove this final layer of plastic and the mattress should expand to its full height within a few seconds. The Logan & Cove mattress took 1 minute to fully expand. 

The Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress and Logan & Cove mattress are constructed very differently. The Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress is a combination foam mattress available in a single firmness, whereas the Logan & Cove is a hybrid mattress offered in two distinct firmness options.

Another major difference between the Serta iComfort mattress and Logan & Cove mattress is the different types of foams used for comfort, contouring, and pressure point relief, and support layers for motion isolation and edge support. Each mattress contains comfort, transition, and support layers, and these layers vary slightly in height and density.

Also, both mattresses have a unique top cover which showcases each brand’s mattress design.

The Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress contains 5 layers of foam:

• The first layer of foam in the Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress is ¾” TempActiv™ gel memory foam. This layer is designed to provide optimal comfort and temperature performance.
• The second layer of foam in the Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress is 1” of memory foam. This layer works with the comfort layer to alleviate pressure points and distribute body weight.
• The third layer of foam in the Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress is 1″ transitional layer of support foam. This layer helps isolate movement.
• The fourth layer of foam in the Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress is 1 ½” transitional layer of memory foam. This layer works with the first transitional layer and provides an additional level of contouring and helps distribute body weight.
• The final layer of foam in the Serta iComfort TempActiv II mattress is a 7″ polyurethane support foam layer. This layer which gives the mattress its structure and prevents sleepers from sinking in too far.

Logan & Cove Mattress Layers

Both versions of the Logan & Cove mattress are made with the same five layers:

• Cover fill: Silk-blend pillow-top fill. The lightweight fill resting immediately beneath the cover is soft to the touch, antimicrobial, heat-regulating, and breathable.

• First layer: 0.75 inches of high-density cooling gel foam. The first of two consecutive cooling layers is primarily designed to offer immediate cushioning and a hint of body contouring.

• Second layer: 1 inch of cooling gel memory foam. This responsive material helps with cushioning and heat regulation around the sleeping surface.

• Third layer: 1 inch of soy-infused bio foam. This layer provides body contouring and pressure-point relief in the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.

• Fourth layer: 2 inches of soy-infused eco foam. This thicker layer of foam is the main transition layer between the pillow-top and the bottom support layer, helping to balance both the cushioning and supportive properties of the mattress. It also further establishes the overall body contouring and pressure-relieving properties.

• Fifth layer: 8 inches of individually pocketed coils. The pocketed coils are made from multi-tempered recycled steel. They provide robust support and motion isolation across the entire sleep surface. In the central third of the bed (under the hips), Logan & Cove uses a thicker gauge of steel in order to prevent the hips from sinking down too far. This arrangement helps to promote spinal alignment and reduce pressure points. Logan & Cove has one of the thickest centre thirds of any coil-based mattress.

Of note: The full perimeter of the mattress is encased with 4 inches of rigid support foam to allow you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed. Polyfiber layers above and below the pocketed coils make up the remaining 0.75 inches of Logan & Cove’s 14-inch vertical profile.

Though the two firmness models use all of the same primary layers, the differences in density and force deflection ratings between the foam layers results in the overall differences in feel and firmness between the two mattresses.

Logan & Cove's impressive quilting is full of intricate details, ones normally reserved for higher price segments. The design uses diamond-tufting, accent stitching, glossy fabrics, and other elegant touches to make a mattress you can't help but want to run your hands across.

To keep you cool and comfortable through the night, the white quilting is heavily infused with Tencel®. Tencel is widely known for its breathability and moisture-wicking qualities.
